What are yall's recommendations on strings? My style is Funk-Metal. I want strings that give a good punch but still sound good when I'm slappin and poppin. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

DB5 10-17-2003, 09:07 AM Try DR - High Beams or Low Riders ;) rickbass 10-17-2003, 09:24 AM Amen to what DB5 says - DR Hi Beams, Lo Riders OR Marcus (Fat Beams). Considering the cost in relation to the effect on sound, strings are one area where you shouldn't compromise. slugworth 10-17-2003, 07:51 PM Rotosounds are it for me. After 26 years of playing bass and trying almost every brand of string imagineable, I always keep coming back to Rotosound, they make a great product, and that is backed up by the coolest people I've ever met in the music industry. They treat every bass player like he was Jaco or Jack Bruce. I very rarely have a problem with any of their products, and if I do, I give their West Coast rep. a call and he takes care of it, on the spot, no questions asked. They make several different types of bass strings; there's something for just about every type of player too. You just don't find many companies like Rotosound anymore. Asaf 10-22-2003, 04:29 PM go with la bella hard rockin steel, i used to play them back in my funk metal days. or you can go with ken smith stainless steel. im more of a nickel man myself, but i figured you are more of a bright sound man so i hope it will work for you. |
