What is the tonal difference between these two pickups? The sound I am looking for is a low end growl, while still having the classic "precision bass" sound.

Thanks in advance.

I have had both of these pickups on previous P basses. The quarter pounder definitely has more growl and has a gritty edge to it. Best example I can think of is that Blink 182 song , not sure of the title (Fell in love with the girl at the rock show) from Take Off Your Pants & Jacket.

The 62 is warm, deep and thumpy. I prefer this PU, although for growl, go with the SD. When I had a 62 RI previously, my wife complained that the walls shook too much, which is a good sign.
