I am looking for a new book to learn some funk with. I'd like to focus more on finger-style funk and not too much on the slap/pop techniques. Any suggestions?

The ones I am leaning towards (in order):

Funk Bass (Bass Builders Series)
by Jon Liebman

Classic Funk and R&B Grooves for Bass
by Josquin Des Pres

Mel Bay's Complete Funk Bass Book
by Mike Hiland

Check out The Finger Funk Workbook Vol. 1 and 2 by Anthony Vitti also. You can get them at bassbooks.com for a nice price. There are some pretty cool lines in both of them.

I recommend Jon Liebman's books!

Seriously, thanks for the consideration.

Ah the funk....

Funk Bass Bible - Hal Leonard
The FunkMasters. The Great James Brown Rhythm Sections - Allan Slutsky and Chuck Silverman
Funk Bass (Bass Method)- Hal Leonard

As a bonus, take the books down to Kinkos and have them re-bound with a spiral bound so they'll lay flat.
