Just wondering 'cus I'm bored, also, who here uses the double thumbing technique?

i prefer to play finger style but sometimes i slap, i prefer the double thump method if i am going to do it, but some times i just spank it :D

2 thirds finger, 1 third slap.
I don't use the double thumb technique ... but I would like to !
(dam', I have to find a teacher able of doing this !)

I've recently started slapping, like two weeks ago, and whats double thumb???usually finger, but the thumb is really fun i've discovered

I slap my bass silly when I'm playin with myself. I slap around 1% of the time in all my playing situations. Nothing I ever play calls for it - but eeez fun.

I'm with Joe, when I'm sitting at home, I'll spend hours working on slap stuff...but on gigs I almost never put thumb to string (unless it's to thumb mute). On gigs, my poor fretted almost never leaves the guitar stand, I think it gets lonely ;). Spend a good deal of my time messing with double thumbing too, and even mixing double thumbing with double plucking, lets ya get those real fast 16ths or even 32nds! :cool: Not useful for any "real" playing situations, but fun on it's own :D.

I love to slap, but I don't do it all the time. When playing I'll use a lot of finger funk, but only slap some basic lines. If I'm in a solo though, I may go nuts. It's fun.

I slap on occassion just to mix things up.
But 99.99 % is finger stuff.

do a search on it, bassicly using your thumb like a pick, downward thump and then a upward thump
