Droog 01-23-2004, 01:53 PM Guess this would fall under Misc.

Wow, thats both wonderful and terrible news. Wonderful because TMV will be touring again soon and I also dig APC, but terrible becasue I'm pretty sure APC plays arenas and stadium, rather than the usual small club setting of a TMV show(which IMO is a much better way to see a band). Either way, thats great.:bassist: :bassist: :bassist:
The Mock Turtle Regulator 01-23-2004, 02:26 PM is John Alderete (Racer-X) still playing with the Mars Volta?

Here's hoping it comes around here. I saw Tool and Meshuggah at Erie, and they were amazing, but I'm pretty sure they hated it. They didn't sell it out because no one around here likes good music. They didn't even do an encore because no one knew you weren't suppose to just leave after a concert is "finished."
I was pissed. I hope I can see them somewhere cool. Hell, I hope I can see them.

Hmmmm, how can your name be Juan and John?

I don't think this is the case. The fall tour APC did was all small venue stuff. Concert hall and what have you. I bet its gonna kick ass. The thing with APC and MV is that, yes we all think they are great, but their music does not draw the tiny-bopper punk rock crowd (thank god). Neither band is very mainstream, I bet the shows stay pretty small. I am definately going.
Ryan Berry 01-23-2004, 03:40 PM Is this thing just west coast?

I guess his real name is Juan- he Englicised/Americanised it to John when he was in Racer X.

Justin V 01-23-2004, 04:14 PM I've got my buddy in the Bay Area buyin' my ticket for it this weekend (I'll pay him when I come down). I can't WAIT for this show. Two of my friends saw Volta headline at the Fillmore a few months ago and I think they saw APC at Lolapalooza last summer. I'm pretty sure this tour's gonna be smaller venues, seeing as how the bay area show's gonna be at Bill Graham Civic (while I've never been there, I assume it's pretty small).
Can't wait!!! :hyper: :hyper:
The Mock Turtle Regulator 01-23-2004, 04:15 PM I'm pretty sure it's the same guy- a fellow bassist (currently playing for Zodiac Mindwarp) and fan of Alderete's work with Racer X told me about it- he saw a london Mars Volta gig and recognised Alderete and spoke to him.
Jon223 01-23-2004, 04:50 PM its gonna be in OKC too.
I wish i could get tickets, but i wont be able to go.
i dont like APC tho, so it wouldnt be worth it.
Osama_Spears 01-23-2004, 04:54 PM M.V can't touch A Perfect Circle:)
Jon223 01-23-2004, 04:59 PM they can when you cant stand the sound of maynards voice and twiggy's bass put together.
Jon223 01-23-2004, 05:01 PM here comes the hate....:D

hrmm...isn't twiggy a male?
I saw APC live on Conan playing "Judith" and there was a chick on the 4-string.

Jon223 01-23-2004, 05:16 PM twiggy ramirez is aka as jeordie white.
He played for manson and now for APC.
he replaced Paz Lenchantin, thats the girl.
But... I never really liked tool anyway, and i dont like APC now either.
so, im bracing for impact for the flaming.
Stingus 01-23-2004, 06:50 PM I'm only just now getting into the Mars Volta album, but have always liked APC (despite being called "Tool for Girls" by my friends). I'll have to see if that tour is coming around here.
Probably not. :bawl:
Prog rock lives!!
geshel 01-23-2004, 08:04 PM They're playing at the Tacoma Dome here, I think. :spit: :bawl:

who do you like better?
SpiralEyes123 01-24-2004, 12:44 PM neither come close to Justin of Tool so what does it really matter ?
Joey3313 01-24-2004, 02:54 PM Deloused and Thirteenth Step were two of the best albums of last year. The Mars Volta are weirder, but they still own.

I have heard very little of 13th step but I own Mer De Noms. I liked the bass on MDN and I like a lot of Twiggys playing from his days with Marilyn Manson. Probably Twiggy, but I havent heard him much with APC.
Ryan Berry 01-24-2004, 03:05 PM You know, I think its pretty funny that Twiggy will always be known as Twiggy for a long time, no matter what he tries to go by.

well, to be anal
Paz was the bass player live. On MDN, Billy played most of the bass lines on the album.
Justin V 01-24-2004, 05:19 PM WOOHOO!!! Woke up this afternoon (gotta love college) and found out that my buddy came through and got the tickets this morning for the April 3rd show in SF.I'm quite pumped to say the least (does multiple back flips, thouroghly trashing small dorm room and pulling multiple muscles in the process).

Weak And Powerless has a nice bass-intro,I like.
I still think a chick bassist just makes the music look better;)
