I would like to purchase something that I can begin recording my sessions with friends and possibly live shows. I already have an adequate 16-track mixing board and a small selection of mics. What I'm not sure of is the system that I should use for recording. I would like to be able to record 12 - 16 tracks simultaneously. And I would like to be able to do this from one unit, not a chain of ADAT's or Tascam's. I have looked into the Tascam MX-2424 but I'm not sure about the price tag. The new Mackie HDR24/96 also seems impressive, but I'm not sure that I like the interface on it. I've also contemplated the MOTU 1296. And if necessary, I wouldn't mind getting a system like the Yamaha AW4416HD. However, I haven't read too many reviews on these systems since they are all relatively new. I would appreciate any hands-on, real world experience that any of you might have. I also have the links here for those of you who share my interests:
