How are some of you getting the GIFs you're using for your avatars down to the 5MB limit?

I made a simple 2 frame one. Both frames within the (new) 80x80 limit in size. It's still 11MB.

This is my first (homemade) GIF. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not very good with working with .gif but, you may want to compress it into jpg, then re-compress it into .gif, this should yield two very tiny images. that could be combined into .gif form again.

It's all about compressing, removing colors.

My avatar use to have around 200 colors, now it has like 12 or something like that. Plus I made it go a bit faster. Also, it's smaller than 80 x 80.

I don't know if transparent backgrounds make gifs bigger? :hmm:

Only a couple of bytes bigger.

Changed both frames to 80x60.
Decreased colors to 16 on both frames.
Avatar looks like crappola.
Still 11MB.
