Feck, I think I was wrong. I could have sworn he had one. A picture of him with his eyes closed holding his bass or something.

You might be thinking of the cover of his instructional video, "Progressive Bass Concepts":

As for solo albums, Bryan Beller - "View" (http://www.bryanbeller.com/music/view.html). Three tracks ("Bear Divide", "No", and a cover of Patitucci's "Backwoods") are unaccompanied solo bass pieces.
thebug 03-20-2004, 10:01 AM John Myung hasn't made a solo album. He did play in two side projects thouhg (two albums with Platypus, one with Jelly jam, and he played bass on some other albums like Raising the mammoth which wasn't really HIS project), but no real solo stuff yet....

That ought to be good.
Wrong Robot 03-21-2004, 01:35 AM Richard Bona's new album has him playing just about everything, guitar, drums, blah blah with some guest artists
And it's a spectacular album too! I think I've listened to it about 20 times since I got it a month ago.
Oh yeah, thinking of you, Brian Bromberg, an upright player, has an album called 'wood' it's mostly unaccompanied upright bass, and it's really good.
bassplayingdan 03-21-2004, 06:56 PM i think john paul jones from zeppelin has some solo stuff. ive never heard it though.
snapple 03-21-2004, 08:16 PM Ray Riendeau has one out, and I'm pretty sure it's all unaccompanied solo bass sty-lee.
bryan bailey 03-21-2004, 08:37 PM That ought to be good.
I'll second that.

Wrong Robot 03-23-2004, 11:22 AM MC Divinity's album is out too, I haven't heard it yet, but I have heard her play many times, and she's always awesome!
rap and bass! whoooo!
as well, you may also want to check out Tom jenkinson AKA Squarepusher. He is a dedicated bass player, but he fuses that with his passion and knack for electronic music. He makes a great blend of abstract electronic jazz. His main influences are Duck dunn and Jaco, and it shows in his playing style which is solid as can be, but frenetic when needs be.
E-rock 03-23-2004, 04:28 PM No one here has any Randy Coven Cds? ...lol... I know he's cheesy, but he's a damn good player. I think Victor Wooten has a solo CD out there too.

Larryrum 03-28-2004, 08:01 AM John-Paul Jones, Jack Bruce and Geezer Butler. Three greatest bassists in the whole wide world!
lousybassist 03-30-2004, 08:59 AM Jonas Hellborg. "Elegant Punk" and "The Silent Life" are both solo bass albums. He recorded the second one live, with his acousic bass guitar. No overdubs in sight. It's brilliant.

Bruce Foxton (The Jam/Stiff Little Fingers)
bryan2112 04-05-2004, 08:28 AM john paul jones - zooma
i was fortunate enough to see him perform it live in a nice small club in pittsburgh. VERY ENJOYABLE! l.e.d.'s a blazin on his basses. oh yeah... he kinda plays good too. ;)
he also made a few jokes about the local drinking water, naming the monongahela river... a feat not to many people from THIS country can pronounce! it's nice to see musicians "know" something about the towns they play in!
mike sancho 04-05-2004, 02:24 PM Jeff Berlin, Brian Bromberg, Adam Nitti, Bakhiti Kumalo, Oscar Stagnaro, Curtis Olsen, Alphonso Johnson, Marcus Miller, Craig Schoedler, Dann Glenn, Marc Egan, Jimmy Haslip, Kim Stone, Norm Stockton, Oteil Burbridge, Mick Karn, John Enteistle, Chris Squires, etc.,etc..
