Thanks in advance, Kris Scott French 06-11-2004, 01:21 PM Stewmac has it in pints I think. That will go a long way. Mon Rominee 06-11-2004, 01:52 PM Yup, stew mac has shielding paint and shielding tape... http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Supplies:_Shielding.html McHack 06-11-2004, 02:05 PM Huh, interesting. How well does this stuff work, as opposed to copper tape? Mon Rominee 06-11-2004, 02:19 PM It doesn't work *as well*,(a generalization based on the amount of sheilding component suspended in the paint) but it's alot easier to get into places tape won't "work"... I've gone so far as to wick it thru all the pickup wire channels... it's pretty decent stuff, and does its job. Just stir it up properly. Don't forget foil, regular aluminum foil, which works well (prolly better than paint) and is super cheap. Spray adhesives hold it in well. Of course, I wouldn't want to use something like that on an instrument I was selling, but for my own use, it's great. I like to put electrical tape over the whole mess, since it hold all the foil down to maintain electrical contact, and protects it, and prevents shorting. Has anyone used solid metal for their shielding? Maybe a mesh? Those would be cheap and easy to apply. |
