I saw a documentary on him last night (called "New York Doll.") The film centered on Kane as he was preparing to reunite with the band for a concert in London. He (Kane) had not been involved in music for the last 30 years!
The film showed Kane as a quiet man, and a devout Mormon. He made a living working in a library (a long way from the early days.) There was a segment in the film showing Kane getting some basses out of a pawn shop. He had been paying $175.00 a year (for a very long time) in interest on the original loan of $262.00.
On a positive note, he made it through the gig. On the downside, it told of his death. He felt sick-went to the ER, was diagnosed with Lukemia and died 2 hours later. Very sad.
