Greetings -

I'm trying to identify a name of, I believe, an upright player, as well as a particular brand of upright.

The name of the player is George Vivia - at least, that's how I'm hearing it phonetically. Can someone please confirm or deny, or tell me anything about him?

The name of the upright - again, phonetically - is a Gusack, (say Jew-sack) but I can't seem to find any info. Again, can anyone confirm or deny?

Thanks for your help...

Marcello.

I'm sure you must mean George Duvivier
(1920-1985) One of the most recorded Bassists of all time. He played with everyone from Coleman Hawkins to Eric Dolphy to Bud Powell.
And the DB in Question is of course, a Juzek, originally made in Prague, Czech. then produced in Germany after WWll. The company is still in Germany, but the quality is nowhere near what the older instruments were.
