I didn't see any piano infraction for a heavy left hand. In my book that would cost him dearly. :rollno:

haha i do that train all the time. I'm guessing that all basses do it because were bloody awesome. Like one time my conductor for all-region, was a bass player, and after the first song the whole section of basses were still playing, and he said,"Now that's when I know I have bass players."

-Playing in front of the bass
-Throwing sticks in the air
-Playing the theme when soloing
-Playing louder during the horn solos

I'll always get in line to bash a drummer. Personal pet peeve:

Groove avoidance - When the bassist finds the pocket, they just change the beat. $5,000 fine (or stick insertion.)

I play regularly with a guy that does this. I used to get miffed, but I have decided that he honestly is not bright enough to recall the beat he was playing 10 seconds ago, so I cut him some slack. :)

Whats an A-train ending. Ive heard some recordings of that song but cant remember any specific ending.

Is it maybe the common. 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 3 5 8 ending?

JazzDude

The standard duke ending:

8 3 4 #4 5 6 7 8 .. 1

There's no easy way to notate the timing in text, but it starts and ends on the 1 beat.

This is correct. The rhythm is doo dot doo doo doo va doo dot

That's a funny list. I've been guilty of idly doing some fimk slaps before the first song, which is silly because I don't slap! And "Missing the root note at the end of a blistering fill"...well... :hiding:

Now that I think about it, I play the last 8 on the & of 2 and the last 1 on the & of 4. If only I could hum it for you in text.
