So i got a piece for Sunday's worship. I got a note that says "Raise this one tone to F." It is standard in the key of Eb (B E A Flats)so to raise it one tone do i just raise every note up one bar line, then just change all the B's to flats. aswell if this was to be raise it 3 tones would it be up three bar lines then change the key signiture.

Example:

First bar in Eb is: G F G F G F

would this change to

A G A G A G

The rythm is 1 + 2 + 3 4

Forget about tones and look at the key signature of where they want you to go. Eb major to F major, three flats to one flat. SO take yer staff paper and put a flat sign on the B and then go back to your Eb chart and write the scale degree over the note. Then go back to your F chart and write in the note for the scale degree. In other words

Eb =1 or tonic F = 1
F = 2 G = 2
G = 3 A = 3
Ab = 4 Bb = 4
Bb = 5 C = 5
C = 6 D= 6
D = 7 E = 7

So your line on the first chart goes
Eb G Ab A Bb
that's 1 3 4 #4 5, right?

So look at the F chart, that's F A Bb B (Bb #, right?) C.
Clear?
