jamesr 02-25-2005, 08:04 AM Thanks guys, I'm new here so I look forward to talking to everyone! :)
SirPoonga 02-25-2005, 10:24 AM I like this.
Out of curiosty, could someone make a sheet like this with different scale patterns? I've been trying to find such a thing.
mrbaloo 02-25-2005, 04:20 PM Wow! Thanks! Very nice job.
/MrBaloo
tplyons 02-25-2005, 04:39 PM Kind of reminds me of the Bass Grimiore (every scale, mode and fingering pattern noone will ever need to know) except useful :)
Commreman 02-25-2005, 04:46 PM nice job! Very useful!
tplyons 02-25-2005, 04:46 PM I vote for stickying!
canopener 02-25-2005, 06:29 PM Nice.
Kraken 02-26-2005, 07:17 AM I've just had it pointed out to me that your circle of 5ths is treble clef and the rest is bass clef...Oh the joys of jammin' with a classically trained singer  However still very cool man! :D
Cheers, K
bigbeefdog 02-26-2005, 08:36 AM Exceptional. Thanks for sharing it.
Now if I can just find a way to make it readable on the little screen in my Pocket PC.... :)
Aaron 02-26-2005, 01:38 PM Good stuff - any plans to put in the 5-fret scale paterns? I think that would make it a lot more complete. That way it covers pretty much all notes of any diatonic, melodic minor, or harmonic minor scale with any finger on the root without having to skip notes, such as the major 7th in major scale pattern 2.
Surgeon 02-27-2005, 05:36 PM Thanks!
Now big decision time, laminate or not?
Folmeister 02-27-2005, 06:19 PM Awesome! Thank you for sharing!
jamesr 02-28-2005, 08:41 AM I've just had it pointed out to me that your circle of 5ths is treble clef and the rest is bass clef...Oh the joys of jammin' with a classically trained singer  However still very cool man! :D
Cheers, K
The is only one circle of 5ths. There isn't a separate one for bass clef. Even the key signatures are the same. I'm not sure what he was talking about.
Thanks again everyone for all the feedback!

I think my vocalist was pointing out the fact that you had a treble clef stave in there rather than a bass one (I'm assuming that the sharps/flats would be the same note just on a different line in Bass Clef) but even they admitted it was cool

I bet that was it, I couldn't find the key signatures with the bass clef. And I was to lazy to make them my self.
Aaron 02-28-2005, 01:04 PM Personally, I wouldn't call the vii chord diminished, I'd call it half-diminished or minor 7 b5. With triads it doesn't matter, but diminished infers different tension tones than half-diminished.
Indi86 03-01-2005, 12:47 AM Oh so very useful. Awesome stuff!
Sweet! Thanks for posting that, it will help... a lot. :D
JazzBassvb 03-01-2005, 08:42 AM Love it! Very, very awesome!
Nice concise source of info right there!

If I showed you what they should look like on bass clef, or found something you could copy and paste, would you update it? I think it would be more helpful, within the context of your "cheat sheet," to show the key sigs in bass clef, or maybe both bass and treble clef if that's more what you want...
I'm just picky about this sort of thing I guess...
scott_barrett 03-23-2005, 12:33 PM Great job! I'm sure some people are getting better just looking at it....nice circle of fifths too! Explaining that to some people just drives me crazy......
Scott
GSPLBASSDC 03-23-2005, 01:02 PM Very Nice!!! It's for a 4 string, but I have no problems in transposing to my 5.
scott_barrett 03-23-2005, 03:21 PM Hey....a 5 string version would just rock! Care to make one?
SB
Jazzin' 03-24-2005, 07:21 PM Thats some good, work, it has all the important parts of music needed for beginner or intermediate bass players.
GSPLBASSDC 03-25-2005, 06:20 AM Hey....a 5 string version would just rock! Care to make one?
SB
Is that for me or jamesr??
bassthumpa 03-25-2005, 10:16 AM Is that for me or jamesr??I'd say whoever wants to put the time into making it... I too wouldn't mind seeing a 5-string version.
Nice work, jamesr!
golden_boy 03-27-2005, 09:12 AM Thats some good stuff, thanks!
scott_barrett 03-27-2005, 05:46 PM That's for you, I guess! I have passed this along to about 8 other bass players and other musicians that found it quite informative. A 5 string version would be nice to have, especially for the scales.....
Very cool.
Thanks! Much appreciated!
lamarjones 03-28-2005, 09:52 AM I posted this on a site I run and got some responses, and some private responses telling me that it helped. Thanks so much for the great work here.
scottz0369 03-29-2005, 04:24 AM Thanks for posting this--It's just what I needed!
Scott
Kraken 06-02-2006, 10:19 AM Apologies to those hereby subscribed, but I've just re-found this and it is still cool!
Bounce - Bump - Boom!
mike phillips 06-02-2006, 11:02 AM thank you for puttin that together. killer stuff.
IanStephenson 06-02-2006, 11:12 AM I'm not too worried about the clef on the circle of 5ths but you should (largely) be using flats rather than sharps for the left hand side.
for example to the left of F should be Bb, not A#, it's only an a# if you go ALL the way around clockwise to get to it. (and then the F is an E#)
Ian
BOOCAKE4U 06-02-2006, 11:50 AM i don't guess the original poster is still on TB (last post in march of 2005) but bless his heart for making this thing, and a giant thank you to Kraken for bumping it...well done
being theory-tarded i am not entirely sure of everything i am looking at, but it is sure giving me new things to think about
maju dragon 06-02-2006, 12:03 PM wow, thanks man, thats a real nice thing to do.

Thank you very much for posting this! :bassist:
bassbengoa 06-11-2006, 09:32 PM anyone want to make a 6 string version? for both the tab file and the bass cheat i mean :help:
Besides that, great job! Thank you!
:bassist:
I would like to ask a question on the Major scale on this if I may. I am new to bass so if I am misinformend let me know. I saw this yesterday thread and played it this major scale this morning. I am OK on the major scale with patterns 1, 2, & 4. But with 3 and 5 there is a note/s missing.
#3 goes A-B-C-D-E-F-G-A-C-D. Missing B
#5 goes D-E-F-G-A-C-D-F Missing both B&E Do you add these in?? I am not sure of myself with scales and this just did not sound right. The pattern I learned for guitar was 3 notes per string starting on the root.
Thanks as I am confused
whitedk57 06-13-2006, 01:07 PM Kudos for making your cheat sheet - I will definitely print it out and
keep one in my bass case and put up one on my wall.
Here is the fretboard that I created awhile back. This is a big image that is best printed on 8 1/2 x 14 inch legal paper. This is great for hanging on the wall in a practice area because it's easily visible from a fair distance.

Anyone kept a copy of it ?
Thanks.
40Hz_of_Love 10-20-2006, 01:26 PM Yeah, I would really like to print it and hang it on the wall.
Jazz Ad 10-20-2006, 02:02 PM Got it.
It's now available here (http://dapl.free.fr/BCS.pdf).
Let me look I have to get a better connection to post it somewhere.
Edit: Never mind you posted it as I was typing.
40Hz_of_Love 10-20-2006, 03:59 PM What about the tab sheet? That'd come in handy.
drumsnbass 10-22-2006, 07:02 PM Got it.
It's now available here (http://dapl.free.fr/BCS.pdf).
any shot at a 5 sting version?
Jazz Ad 10-23-2006, 01:12 PM No but if you assemble it I'm sure it will make many people happy. :)
chaotick 10-23-2006, 01:23 PM I'm really glad someone bumped this, I had never seen it before today.
I was afraid it might be over my head because I have limited knowledge of how to tabulate and interpret written music but I do understand this.
Great resource!
funkybass 10-23-2006, 04:56 PM For some reason I couldn't get the links to open.
ZombieGhosTrain 10-23-2006, 05:06 PM Just worked for me...took a little while cause it opened acrobat in my browser. Do you have acrobat?
drumsnbass 10-23-2006, 07:33 PM No but if you assemble it I'm sure it will make many people happy. :)
If i had the skills to assemble it, I gladly would. Unfortunately, they are definitely lacking in this area... :hmm:
