I'm excited about this gig. Steve's gigs are always good value, and BJ Cole is a pedal steel guitar genius... I'm really getting into his albums with Luke Vibert "Stop the Panic" and the solo album "Trouble in Paradise". If you thought pedal steel was synonymous with country music, or hawaiian music then this guy will seriously change your perceptions!
Out of interest, have you any ideas what BJ's set will be like on Friday, Steve? Will it be "beats and pieces" or his collaboration with Emily Burridge and Guy Evans? What to expect? Or is that the beauty of his stuff - you never know quite what to expect? :D
And what can we expect from Le Steve?
Answers on a postcard, please...
Be there, or be somewhere completely different.

BJ's set will be along the lines of Trouble In Paradise - the laptop blokey has got all the tracks and samples from the album and is processing, reordering and mashing them up in real time along with BJ and the crazy percussionist. :) I heard them rehearsing yesterday which sounded magic.
The duo stuff with BJ will probably involve some big sprawling ambient scariness from just the two of us, then I'll hook an EDP up to laptop blokey's computer and we'll do something as a trio/quartet with some beatz and ting. :)
as for my solo set - some old favourites, maybe a new thing or two, and perhaps a special guest, who knows. ;)

As for your special guest: Was Matt Garrison busy?
Las Olas 03-14-2005, 05:40 AM Steve - No plans for coming up Scarborough way, I suppose? York? Bridlington? I'm in Scarborough hoping to see you soon!!
Keep up the good work, and hope the gigs go well.
Regards
Mike
Steve Lawson 03-14-2005, 05:47 AM Hi Mike,
I'd love to come and play up there - the problem is finding a venue, and someone willing to put the gig on... If you know anyone who is (or fancy having a go yourself!) please email me!
