I've read about other bassists saying nice things about him,but I don't know about his work.I only know that he used to work with John Mclaughlin. Can anyone recommend anything that he played that is good or inspiring?

I have him on McLaughlin's "Que Alegria". This guy is INCREDIBLY fast. A little too Jaco-ish for my taste in terms of tone, phrasing and note choice.

Check out Kai Eckhardt, who plays on a couple of tracks on that album, as well as "Live at the Royal Festival Hall", also the John McLaughlin Trio.. THERE'S some great, inspiring basswork. :)

This incredible bassist is exactly named Dominique Di Piazza.
He's a real virtuoso (and he's french ... woohooo :D)
He stopped playing bass for a while and recently went back "into the scene" with a new album (in a trio).
I'll look for the other musicians and album title.

I think I spotted his last album :
"Front Page" with Birelli Lagrene (Guitar) and Denis Chambers (Drums).
