Anyone ever put flatwounds on a graphite neck or fancy woods bass? Just curious how that would sound.

It would sound good :D To me at least.

I love flats. Rounds are just too abrasive for me. I know it's a technique issue, and I currently have my fretted bass strung up with rounds, but I still prefer the thump of a good set of flats.

To each his own.

I gather from your question that you have one of these "modern" basses? If so, why not string her up with a set of Fender 9050's and report back to us on how it sounds?

I would do it, but neither of my basses could be considered modern :D

Not exactly a answer to your question - But I used flats to deaden my sound on my violin bass... The reason was that I had some "hot" zones and some "dead" zones and I hated having a bass that sounded different tone-wize as I moved from fret to fret... flats fixed my problem very well.
