OK, it's time to move this bass - new post for the new board.

It holds up the MTD reputation quite well. Plays effortlessly, has the MTD tone mojo, and is extremely versatile with the Barts and the three-way mids option, not to mention a slap MONSTER, but... I am blessed with several great basses, and am using my 635 and my Sadowsky Metro(s) almost all the time now. So this one rarely gets played like it deserves, and just needs a good new home.

One would think this thing might sound a little bright and sterile, given the maple top and board, but Mike's usual good sense when it comes to marrying different woods is evident here. The mahogany gives it plenty of thump and punch, and the overall vibe is very organic and rich in tone, although you can easily dial in all the sizzly highs you want if needed.

New price below, will consider reasonable trades but prefer cash $$$. (New Nordstrand coming soon!!) Make me a (reasonable) offer.

Ser #782 (built March '02), mahogany with maple spalt top, maple neck and board. Buzz Feiten Tuning system. 35" scale with 21 frets. $2200 including shipping. Paypal preferred.

No cosmetic or performance issues with bass, well cared for. Will consider trades for MTD535/635 with wenge neck/board; Sadowsky Ultra-Vintage 5's or NYC vintage 5 models, possibly Dingwall 5's, Roscoe 6'ers.

Can make more digital pics if desired...

thanks, Greg

I might be a n00be to ask, but does that mean Wife Approval Factor?

Exactly.

Bassconbeatz, this bass is unfortunately long gone - sorry, forgot to delete the thread.

The blueburst MTD535 in my avatar might be available for the right price... or maybe a nice trade. :D

Hey,

What are the specs on the blue one. . . looks like a wenge neck/board, but what about body and top woods?

Thanks a lot. . .

Just sat down and played the blueburst MTD again for a while. Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up falsely - was considering letting it go, but it is a different sound palette not duplicated by any of my other instruments, and a great playing bass to boot. So it will stay home.

thanks, Greg
