I have some students who are interested in slap style playing...they're not really beginners in the sense of "they learned their first scale last week", but they're not quite ready for Victor Wooten/Stu Hamm stuff, either.

Any suggestions? Just some basic slap-style songs. If it's funk instead of rock, even better. Thanks!

The Rapture - Out of the Races

I think the bassist uses a pick, but i slap it - easy and right good laugh to play with your mates...

Measles Mumps & Rubella - Fountain of Youth

Coolest slap intro ive ever heard, not easy...but cool :bassist:

Continuing the RHCP theme, try Coffee Shop. Pretty simple chorus and verse, and then once they're better and have a wah pedal they can tackle the solo.

anything larry graham is awesome. His super bass thumping technique video is quite helpful in that area.
