How does the type of fingerboard wood effect the sound on an electric bass? I know that on upright, switching from rosewood to ebony is a vast improvement. My current electric has a rosewood fingerboard. How does the sound/tone and playability differ with a maple vs. rosewood fingerboard. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark B

Though the tone of the bass depends on a lot of other factors as well, rosewood tends to be softer in the highs (a bit duller), yet stronger in the lows, resulting in a fatter tone. Maple would make it clearer and punchier, but you'd loose some lows.
