I'm not new anymore so if you want to delete my post, no prob.

I first heard about it on AltGuitarBass.

After visiting I decided it wasn't for me and just stuck with AGB for another year or two. Eventually I found my way over here again, stayed a little longer, then got stuck!

Now I spend most of my on-line time here.

Hello, I'm new here, though I have browsed the site many times before, just never got around to registering. I think it's a good site, stumbled upon through a link a while back. I'm currently putting a bass together so I am going to be looking for input on preamp suggestions and stuff so hey, this seems like the place to get good info. Cool, Hope you are all having a good day and remember - your only as funky as the people you hang out with. Andy Bird

Oh, usually i hide behind my rig, but i decided to to join & say 'Hi." mostly i want to thank David Grossman for putting on a great "solo bass night" show @ the Freight&Salvage in Berkeley, CA which convinced me that it's sometimes OK for bassists not to be too shy. & ummm, love of the bass of course!

How I found TalkBass...

I play bass. No wait, that doesn't sound nearly serious enough. I, I, I... oh crud, I play bass:A mint, '74 4001FL (fretless) Jetglo (that's black kids) Ric. One rig only. I understand the obbsession with owning mutiple guitars but I have more then I'll personally ever need with this one beuty, but I digress (and the truth is I own other guitars but they all collect dust).

Okay, back to how I found TalkBass. At some point in time, not that long ago, I crawled out of the dark ages and got connected on line. This was difficult for me... keyboards are NOT strings. Anyway, I surfed (okay, for porn at first, there I admitted it) but then I got serious about what I was surfing for. This, logically, lead me to TalkBass.

Surf and you shall find, or so sayeth someone who knows much more then I do.

Well, that's it. This Ric-oholic is outta here!

"The Bass brings it home."

Rob out.

I put a Lindy Fralin pup in my 1978 Ibanez "lawsuit" era P-bass and it sounded great...then I A-B boxed it with one of my two other stock Lawsuit Ibanez P-basses and found...no difference at all! in output or tone...so I A-B'd the re-pickup'd '78 Ibanez with my new Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub with stock Lindy Fralin....identical tone and output (but nicer finish on the Lakland)...my curiosity aroused, I A-B'd the new Lakland with Fralin with an un-modified stock 1975 Ibanez "lawsuit" P-bass. Could NOT tell any difference in tone or output. The lesson learned here is two-fold...Lindy Fralins sound great...and ' 70's Ibanez copys sound EQUALLY great...I've had two genuine Fenders that paled in comparison, and are now gone. I have 5 "lawsuit" era Ibanez's and I won't waste money on new pickups again, the stock ones are the real deal. My $2000 Sadowsky MV-4 with pre-amp bypassed sounds IDENTICAL to my 1976 Ibanez Jazz bass copy! I A-B them with my eyes closed and cannot tell which is which. I'm $120 lighter in the wallet for the Fralin P-Bass Pup but I'm wiser to the quality of 70's Ibanez...buy up as many of them you can find! Peace

I was looking around on Harmony Central. My older son (13) wants to learn bass...I can't read music, and he can, as he already plays trombone and flute. While I was looking for some sites with basic bass lessons in regular bass clef, I saw the link to your site, and here I am.

I play bass in two blues bands, as well as act as a back-up band for a few local (Syracuse NY) area blues artists who don't have their own regular band. Play about three to ten times a month, variable.

Site looks interesting, I expect to visit when I can, but have little of no time to get e-mails from other people, as I work fuull-time, am in a bachelor's college program, play out a bit, and take care of my kids.

I WANT TO KNOW WHAT RYAN'S STRING GAUGES ARE!!! I know he uses DR High Beams. What are the gauges. My Top string on my Vampyre is loose. I use the top string off of a 5 string set but it is too loose!!! His tuning for Lost and Found is G-C-G-C-F. But I am using a 4 string Vampyre, so I want to know what his gauges are. This has been a struggle for me for some time now. Your knowledge will be greatly honored by me!!! Please help me with any information what so ever for Mudvayne!!! Thank you players!!!
