Hi Everyone

The dealer I went to to Order my G&L Semi Hollow ASAT in Greenburst ( Which should be here in a few weeks !) is going to restring my bass for me since the stock G&L strings just dont do it for me. These are my options and I havent tried any of these strings so i am open to sugestions , thanks.

DR Hi Beams, Low Riders, Bootzillas and Peacock Blues strings, D’addario XL’s, and LaBella Deep Talkin Bass Rounds and Flats

Anyone ?

I don't use a G&L, but I'm a fan of both XLs and Low Riders.

Yeah - those stock SITs suck. I've used D'Addario Slowounds (now sadly discontinued) on my solid body ASAT , Rotosound Nickels (yawn) and now I'm using DR LoRIders. Really digging those.

IMO Labella Deep Talkin flats rock.

I would like to go with round wounds for my first run with this bass.

I'm thinking of putting The D'Addario round nickle heavey gauge that I have on my Areodyne Jazz, on my L2k when it arrives after yours. Not the same ones of course. New ones. I think they are pretty comfortable to play and I dig the tone alot on the Jazz.

I love the power bass strings , I used them alot on my Jack Casady bass. :bassist:

Are T1 Power bass strings high or low in tension?

I just got my L2500 and I don't like the strings either. I'm going to put on DR Hi Beams to start.

I'm partial to Ken Smith Rockmaster Mediums (45-105). Medium tension, kinda zingy at first, but they mellow very nicely!

I played a hollow ASAT the other day with tapewounds on it and it sounded great. Not sure what kind they were...

My sentiments exactly. I bought all of the remaining stock I could find on eBay but they're going fast!

What's up with the XL's?

I just received my new set of TI JF344 flats to install on my newly-acquired '85 'Hog L2K. Also, for giggles I just put a set of Ernie Ball Slinky's on Fender Frankenbass, and they're pretty nice. The price was real right too!

Whats the diffrence between the diffrent DR models?

TI Power bass on my ASATs, and Climax.
TI Jazz Flats on my Lynx.
D'Addario Chromes: flats, on the SB-1.

As someone who owns an ASAT very much like what you're getting... I highly recommend putting some TI Powerbass strings on that ASAT ASAP.

My ASAT rules with Slowounds. I've got one set left. I tried Powerbass on her. I didn't like them at first, but after a week or go they seemed to break in. I'll probably go back to them when I use up my last set of slowounds.

Same experience with Powerbass. Zingy for the first week or so, then deep and powerful.

How do you like the HB's?
