Lydian

Aeolian (Pure Minor)

Are you joking?
The modes have Grecian names, and the interval values are represented in Roman numerals...so they don't "come" in English :p

Ok, I have no idea what you guys are talking about. Besides the fact that Grant22 started a thread about modes. What are modes what are they used for?
That plain english.
(Some of us didn't have lessons or music theory)

I thought you might be making a pun about explaining them in "plain English" as they are naturally Greek.
Here's a pretty easy-to-understand description that I found:
http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-the-seven-modes-of-music.htm
They're basically scales based off of each degree of the major scale and each has its own distinctive sound and flavor.
Thanks to the internet, you can do a lot of you music theory training on your own these days (I have- I had no lessons on theory either).
