My L2k could arrive any day now. Got the unofficial word last Thursday and although its not definite, but probrable, I'm so damn excited. Every day I check the mail box, so to speak. I can't wait to get my greedy little hands on my new Honey. With her long dark neck and maple complextion. Her curvy amber body, and those knobs. I can't wait to pull on her switches and make her moan really deep and loud.

Exactly. I also want to see and feel the neck. I got the #7. The one thats a p neck. I have a P bass now and an Aerodyne with the thin Jazz neck. So I wanna see where it fits in. I'm also interested to see how the colors match. But definitly the tone is the major lure. Isn't this great though. The wait is half the fun. We must be some sick bastards.:help:

Yes I do, though mine is still questionable because of the finish. They took my order but the blackburst is still not an official color so I'm not sure of the status.

Still waiting - I'm going to try them one more time before we close for theday. I'm starting to get guitars in that were ordered around the same time as your basses - one on Thursday and another one is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday - so we've got to be pretty close here.

And while I was writing this G&L called me without a definitive answer - they promised me an answer in the morning. Sorry for the holdup guys but I'm working on it.

I am sure your bass will be along soon as well. I ordered mine on Saturday January 28th 2006 at close to 7 pm in the evening. I would imagine that it would take close to 5 days considering it is a cross country trip. I just hope my bass isint completed on a Friday afternoon when everyone is focused on getting out for their weekend but I certainly wouldent mind if it shiped on Friday though.:p

It almost always takes exactly a week (5 business days), though the last 2 G&L's that came in took 6 days.

Kevin's is shipping out from G&L Friday or Monday and I'm still waiting for the status of Steve's.

I've been watching you guys goin nuts waiting for your new G&L's. When you could've just settled for something off the rack like normal folks.
Well....I guess I'm not normal either. Before last weekend I took the telephone in hand and told the man on the other end to fix me up one of those L2500's in Vintage White with a matching headstock and Rosewood fretboard. I'm gonna try not to talk of it until it gets here. I know there might be some evenings spent on the couch when it does arrive. But I'm willing to face that pain.

Glad to hear it Rezdog. Its nice getting something custom ordered and it is kind of fun waiting for its arrival. Major knows his is coming soon, maybe this week. I, on the other hand, am still waiting for G and L to give my dealer an answer on the shipping date. I should hear something this week. Maybe they are having a hard time letting go of such a sweet looking bass(wink, wink).

The wait. It seems like the majority of the music equipment that I've owned has been of the, "we don't have what you want right now but we can get it in blah blah blah", variety. I thought I'd be used to the wait by now. But it's the price for what you really want. I almost settled for a Tribute in a colour that I wasn't to enthused about, thinking that I would get it refinished in something I liked later. But for the price and hassle of getting it refinished I finally reasoned, get what you really want. So I made the call. I'm hoping for a late summer delivery if I'm lucky.
I've already got a nice stable of basses so this will prolly be the last one. OK.....maybe the last one for a few years anyway. :)

Last week Matt told me it would be another 1 to 2 weeks before its in. That means I'm hoping for a call by Friday of this week that the bass is in. That would be 2 weeks.

NO. Ive been waiting since Feb.1. thats been 3 and a half months. Hopefully only 0ne more week. Actually I hope by Friday of this week. We'll see.

I've only got one and a half months of waiting under my belt so far. They quoted me AT LEAST 4 months because of my flame maple top.

I'm throwing my lot back in with you folks, as my L-1500 that took only eight weeks to arrive is going back to the factory for a new neck. The truss rod didn't work, so it's being replaced under warranty. I played it at one rehearsal, and even through a muddy rig it totally rocked. So I've had a taste of the glory, only to have it snatched away!

Which do you think is worse, the single extended wait, or the cruel tease? I'm not sure, but I don't like this one bit.

Apparently G&L turns around warranty work within a couple of weeks. I can't complain too much as long as they take care of it. Plus, my Fenders and DiPinto keep me going just fine. I just want my L-1500 for a late June show at the Khyber in Philly, which requires the gnarliest, most ballsy tone possible. :bassist:

i ordered a clear orange, natural binding, matching headstock L2K on Feb 4th. Still waiting. 1 1/2 weeks ago they told me it should be done in a week and a 1/2 (which would be today). so hopefully it'll ship this week. I have one L2K already so it's not all that bad but i'm really getting anxious.

Apparently they've been completeing a whole bunch of ash L2000's the past few weeks, though I don't know why there was such a delay.

Its in the barrel, will be shot out on tues. and arrive by(fingers crossed) the following tues.

I think I just might be in the same boat as you , when my tech was trying to get the massive buzzing out of my neck he found a bump in the fingerboard , why cant they get it right the first time with an instrument on this price level?.

Interesting. I remember your earlier post about the buzzing and need for a setup, and I was worried you might have a problem like mine. It crossed my mind that perhaps a defective batch went out, because we got ours around the same time. It seems ours actually have different problems, so it's probably just coincidence.

I share your amazement at this. My U.S. Fenders -- which in the eyes of many have spotty quality -- all have simply outstanding necks. I thought G&L was supposed to be a step up.

Hope yours works out. I'll certainly post when I get mine back, and report on the service.

Call me at the store regarding your bass. With a problem like that G&L would probably want to replace the neck for you. And they just started using a Plek machine at G&L so these kinds of issues should pretty much vanish from here on out.

You'd probably get a pleked neck if they replace the neck but it sounds like that one just needs the neck pocket cut deeper. It might be worth asking, though. I'll see Steve's bass when it arrives and that will be the store's first Pleked G&L neck. My L2500 Custom is at G&L getting a new neck which should be Pleked as well. I was going to sell it when it came back but I might just keep it now, depending on the GAS funds.

My tech said with alot tweaking he could get the buzzing out of its bow but 2 weeks later the buzzing in the first ocatave has started to creep back in I guess I really should send it back in :( .

Congrats! The #6 G&L neck is the greatest bass neck ever manufactured on the face of the earth. Some may call this an "opinion". They are wrong.....it's a fact! :D
