I've got a Tribute L2K and I've been playing it with semi-flats or ground-rounds. It sounds great solo, but tends to be a muddy sound in the mix. I don't want a bright sound, but I don't want mud either. I also can't fork out $30 for TI anything (as much as I'd like to). Any suggestions?

IME with G&Ls, D'Addario XLs are a great match. And you can get a two pack for about $25. Once the XLs lose their zing, they still maitain a punchy sound with a G&L.

I use SIT or DA nickelrounds. Both are affordable, long lasting good sounding strings, at least for me.

I've certainly decided to go with nickel rounds. I might try Fender 7150's since they're cheap and the outer wrap is pure nickel - not nickel plated steel.
Any other string suggestions where the outer wrap is pure nickel?
