VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : **Stolen Sadowsky 24F**
Hi Guys,
I'm very sad to report that my Sadowsky NYC 24F/5 was stolen in the early hours of this morning whilst loading up after a gig at the Bier Keller, Coppid Beech Hotel, Bracknell, Berkshire in the UK. The bass is quite distinctive -spalted Maple on a '59 burst, Ebony fretboard, black headstock, serial number 4424. I know most of our friends in the USA are unlikely to see this the other side of the Atlantic but to any Tb'ers UK in particular, I'd be grateful if you could keep your eyed and ears peeled. EBAy etc. Needless to say I am totally gutted at this sad event. Thanks for reading this. I attach pictures which might be of help.
Cheers
Paul

Sadowsky 04-23-2006, 10:25 AM Paul,
I am very sorry to hear of this. We will indicate in our serial number log that this bass was stolen. Please email me your contact info so we can reach you if necessary.
Roger Sadowsky
CaracasBass 04-23-2006, 10:42 AM Thatīs so sad man, hope you find it soon.
That's the most beautiful Sadowsky I've ever seen.. I really hope you get it back.
Sufenta 04-23-2006, 10:59 AM Rest assured, the culprit will burn in Hell for that act when it's all said and done.
BurningSkies 04-23-2006, 11:31 AM +10 to Roger Sadowsky for posting a prompt response, and taking the extra time and effort to keep track of his basses for such reasons. Definitely a big benefit to the Bass/guitar playing community.
(...now if he'd just make a fanned fret bass... ;) ...)
That sucks, man!:rollno: I hope you get it back soon.
This absolutely infuriates me, even tho I'm thousands of miles away and it's not my bass.
My most sincere wishes for a speedy reunion!!!!
Geoff St. Germaine 04-23-2006, 12:40 PM Well, hopefully the long arms of TB will catch this guy trying to sell the bass somewhere. I'm sorry to hear about this. In a way I would think that because this bass is so unique it make recovering it more likely.
smperry 04-23-2006, 01:12 PM Man! :( Hope you get your Sadowsky back.
Marshall
stringsmith 04-23-2006, 01:13 PM Dude., until your bass is found I will look at every Spalted Sadowski with an investigators eye. That is horrible! Im sure the person that took in didnt even know what they took. Thats not a everyday instrument which makes it a lot easier to identify. Keep your head up.
fretless Bob 04-23-2006, 01:16 PM that is awful man!
that kind of thing would really make me cry :bawl:
i will keep my eyes open
Dave
aftershock 04-23-2006, 01:28 PM :spit: to those who just think they can take what someone else has spent their hard-earned money on. This kind of stuff really ticks me off!
Dude, I am so sorry. I sure pray that you get it back. Good luck and God bless.
:spit: Man, people like that make me sooo mad!
MikeBass 04-23-2006, 01:35 PM I'll bump this one up again.
Man, sorry to hear about this.
:(
That is a really crap thing to have happen.
Hopefully you will recover it soon. In the meantime, I am prerrty sure that the other TBers along with myself will keep a lookout for it should anyone think they could get away with selling it on E-Bay.
Again, sorry to hear that
FLEMMERAN 04-23-2006, 02:00 PM what a beautiful bass
must be hard on you to lose such a great instrument
ill keep my eyes open
savit260 04-23-2006, 02:10 PM The guitar player in one of the bands I play with had his guitar stolen from a show in Boston this past summer. Through the power of the internet, we got it back two days later, unharmed. I wish you the same luck we had on the safe return of your bass. Post this info everywhere you can, and we'll all keep an eye out for it.
Best of luck, and let's find this bass.
Triclops 04-23-2006, 02:13 PM I'm on it! I cruise almost all the possible places on the net that this bass could be sold! I'll let you know if I see it...
....my condolences...
katri 04-23-2006, 02:15 PM wow that is terrible that it was stolen ..but its is good that it is so distinct it will make it easier to spot best of luck paul i really hope you find it. ill keep my eyes open too
very sorry for you.
Even though you collect your insurance money, this is a one of a kind bass and you will never find another one like it.
I really hope they find your bass.
Captain Chaos 04-23-2006, 03:01 PM Some people like to get stuff the easy way, what a shame. :scowl:
Some people like to get stuff the easy way, what a shame. :scowl:Here's to hoping it ends up the HARD way... VERY HARD way very soon...
OpaqueBass 04-23-2006, 04:16 PM I hope whoever the culprit is gets caught, and then beaten.
In all seriousness though, I think that bass is pretty distinguishable. I hope that means you find it sooner.
Mad props to Roger for being such an awesome guy.
Thanks to all of you for your kind words and support, it really touches me. Its good to be reminded that there are good folk out there when this has happened. Roger, thanks for your quick uptake as usual. I'll mail you my details tomorrow. As for the bass, it really is a one of a kind, there are'nt as many Sadowskys' in the UK as the USA and Canada and I'm really trying to keep my chin up that it will be recovered. The police are investigating and hopefully something will turn up on CCTV. I've started the insurance claim but its looks unlikely I'll recover the full value of the instrument. I only got her last October as well. Look after your instruments guys, my band usually load in and out of gigs with one of us taking it in shifts to keep an eye out. Didnt happen last night for some reason and I've paid the consequences.
I didnt get much sleep last night so I'll sign off for now.
Thanks so much.
Paul
Scissor Man 04-23-2006, 04:56 PM That really sucks. If I were you, I would check all the local music stores frequently. About a year ago, my bass teacher got 2 of his favorite basses stolen, and one of his other students caught the theif in the act of selling them to a local music store, and my teacher got the basses back.
Anyway, that's a beautiful Sodowsky and I hope you get it back.
Baryonyx 04-23-2006, 05:05 PM I'll watch the skies for that here in Newcastle!
it sucks to hear that it's been stolen, but it's so distinctive selling it on would probably be quite hard!
Headroom 04-23-2006, 05:16 PM I hope the loss of your instrument is only temporary. Is there a webgroup for Sadowsky owners, or simply bass players, in the UK that might also keep a local eye out for that beauty? That its appearance is so unique should help!
Baryonyx 04-23-2006, 05:18 PM Post it on bassworld.co.uk, I'm a member there too and they have members all over the UK.
bassjam 04-23-2006, 06:47 PM just keeping this bumped up.i cant even imagine what it feels to loose a beaut like that one.years ago i had my bass rig stolen and a couple months ago we played a gig in atlanta.someone got in our dressing room and stole a bag of mine that had an ipod,a video camera,a digital camera, and my car keys.
we will all be on the lookout for you-that one should be easy to spot if it comes up for sale.
iamlowsound 04-23-2006, 07:02 PM I'll keep a look out, even though I am not in the UK. That is a beautuful bass.

:(
hope you get your bass back, that thing is beautiful.
invisiman 04-23-2006, 07:56 PM That's terrible man.:( I'll keep my eyes peeled, incase it somehow ends up in small-town Canada.
Minger 04-23-2006, 07:57 PM Man, that sucks man...
Beautiful bass...hope you get it back...

Anyway, that's a beautiful Sodowsky and I hope you get it back.Even better yet, pawn shops and any other kind of resale shop, as well as keep after local want ads, and eventually web sites.
Remember, this person is probably most interested in immediate cash, not getting the most they can get.
Regardless, time is of the essence, and if the police over there are anything like they are here about things like this, you'd best do the legwork yourself, and bring the authorities in once it's located (for your own protection, if nothing else).
...IMHO...
Hi guys, just gonna bump this up again. Its 8:30am Monday in the UK and I want as many UK T'bers to see this as possible.
Paul
Doctor J 04-24-2006, 03:14 AM Sadowskys are rare instruments on our side of the world and yours even more so, it should stick out like a sore thumb if the theif tries to sell it on. I'll keep an eye on some of the local instrument sale areas here. Good luck and I hope for a speedy return of your beautiful instrument.
I'm in Melbourne, Australia.. I'll keep my eyes peeled mate!
sasred 04-24-2006, 03:58 AM Very sorry to hear this, and I hope you get it back soon!! I love the tone that comes off those basses...I understand why they're so precious.
Had a browse on a couple UK classifieds sites I know of; didn't see anything but if someone has more time than me to monitor them:
http://www.gumtree.com/other_gumtrees.html
Tried the London and Oxford as they seem closest...if I'm reading this UK atlas right...:help:
http://london.craigslist.org/msg/
...and any links off that that might be useful.
GOOD LUCK!
frandiaz 04-24-2006, 04:34 AM Paul,
If this bass happens to show up in Spain you can be sure I'll trace it down. I always keep an eye open for anything Sadowsky in my country.
Good luck, I hope you can back it up with another Sad until yours is back with you...just a matter of time.
zoran 04-24-2006, 05:53 AM Sorry to hear about your lost. I will keep eye on eastern front.;)
Rusty Chainsaw 04-24-2006, 05:55 AM Give the guys at The Gallery and The Bass Centre a ring and tell them what's happened, in case someone turns up on their doorstep looking to flog it. Also, the local Cash Converters / other sell-your-telly-for-drug-money shops... they're unlikely to know what a Sadowsky bass is and probably give the culprit Ģ100. And if you do find whoever did this, make sure they get a good shoeing. :D
Yeah, thanks guys, I've emailed and called all the usual specialist bass shops, Bass Gallery, Bass Centre etc .we'll have to wait and see...
...we'll have to wait and see...Make sure to be vigilant and persistant. Whatever you do, don't rely on others to really follow up on it, but if they do, that's great.
I've seen a few fortunate situations where basses have been recovered, and timing is important. If this pops up somewhere, you don't want it to sit there long, otherwise the trail gets more obscure if it transitions again, which you don't want.
babs1234 04-25-2006, 12:55 AM that has to be one of the most beautiful instruments i have ever seen and its horrible that it got stolen and even though im halfway across the world i will keep my eyes pealed for that bass on the internet especially ebay.
i hope it comes back soon
