VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : Custom G&L Wait Support Group
no4mk1 05-19-2006, 01:27 AM There seems to be a lot of us waiting for our custom orders to be born, so I thought we needed our own support group away from all of those custom 12-stringer freaks!
:ninja: :hiding: :ninja:
Just kidding.
So... What do you have on order, and how long have you been waiting?
Fretless L2.5K
blank ebony board
gunoil tint neck
3-tone sunburst with matching headstock
Flame maple top
Natural wood binding
G&G case upgrade
I've been waiting 7 weeks so far. I've a ways to go.
Cheers,
Chris
craigb 05-19-2006, 08:03 AM SB-2 fretless
- clear blue
- black pickguard
- #6 neck
- unlined ebony board
I've been waiting about 1 week so far (so I have even longer to go). I just know it will get finished 1 week before my summer vacation so I'll have to wait an extra 3 weeks while it's all complete before I can get it.
Rezdog 05-19-2006, 09:39 AM Greetings from the North,
G&L L2500
- Vintage White
- Matching Headstock
- Rosewood Fingerboard
- Case
- Gig Bag
Ordered Easter weekend 2006. Like most of us, I want it now but I will gladly wait as long as it takes to have it done right.

Nedmundo 05-19-2006, 11:02 AM I had my L-1500 for less than two weeks before it went back for a neck replacement due to a faulty truss rod, so I'm counting myself in. I first received it exactly eight weeks after placing the order. It's Electric Blue with matching 'stock and maple board.
It originally had the #6 neck, but the replacement will be #8, which I hope might afford lower action. (Opinions seem split on this, but the #6 didn't work out, so why not try the #8?) I learned that my DiPinto Belvedere has a 14" radius, and I have no beef with that, so 12" should be fine.
Syrith 05-19-2006, 02:03 PM I'm in my first waiting week. Estimated building time is 3-4 months! Still at least 12 weeks to go.. :crying:
But then I'm the happy owner of a:
G&L L2.5K
Quilted Maple top
Ebony Fingerboard (without face dots)
Natural Gloss finish
DiazRomero 05-19-2006, 04:24 PM I ordered mine 5/5/06 and found out this Wednesday that it will be another 14 weeks before the music shop (B Street Music in San Mateo,CA) will have it. I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas to hurry up and come.
G&L 2500
Swamp Ash body
Rosewood neck
Clear Forest Green finish
Youngspanion 05-19-2006, 04:26 PM Hi my name is Steve and I'm a-waiting. I ordered an L2k, Honey on ash with a maple GOT neck. It's sooooo close.
I ordered mine L2K on February 4th. They told my dealer that it would be done last week but i'm still waiting.
Clear orange, natural binding, matching headstock, maple board.
i'm also going on vacation in a week so it will probably be a few more weeks before i can get my hands on it, since it will probably come in while i'm away.
Nedmundo 05-21-2006, 01:25 AM Clear orange, natural binding, matching headstock, maple board.
Now that's what I'm talkin' about! :bassist: We need pics when it (finally) arrives. It might induce a little L2K GAS around these parts.
spideyjg 05-21-2006, 03:46 AM I'll do you one better. I'm highly tempted to get one just like this but with a #8 neck. This was at NAMM then vanished off the face of the earth.

Yeah. My dealer said there were a bunch of ash bodied ones that have been held up. What a bummer:hmm:
at least we aren't waiting for organs.
Youngspanion 05-29-2006, 07:15 AM I've got word now. My L2k is being shipped on Tuseday after Memorial Day. I can't get over how G and L just let me wait for 4 months with no word until last week. Thats total Bulls#*.MY dealer original said 8 to 12 weeks is a normal wait. I'm up to 16 and it will be 17 by the time it arrives and maybe 18 by the time I recieve it. I'm not even really excited any more. I feel Ive been handled a bit roughly.
I still have no confirmation of my bass even being shipped yet. I feel like I'm waiting for the Red Sox to win the world series all over again. It will be great to get it but then when I do what will I do with all of my anxious energy? Play the bass I guess!

Nah, it did'nt vanish. It just came here.....and it changed colors like a ripening tomato.

Apparently it grew teeth as well. :eyebrow:
Damnit I had to see tha thing again.
Hurry them on with those stamped tuners, Matt. :bawl: :crying:

I just got the message that my bass should ship today or tomorrow. they said the hold up was that they were waiting on having the plek machine set up. so hopefully i'll have plekked frets. i've never played anything that has been plekked before so i'm not sure how different it will feel but i've been told it's excellent.
no4mk1 06-08-2006, 06:51 PM Cool! Can't wait to see pics!
It's also good to get confirmation on the PLEK machine.
Although I don't think it will be of any use on my fretless, it seems like a step in the right direction for G&L.
Cheers,
Chris
Youngspanion 06-08-2006, 07:08 PM I'm officially out of the group.

My L2k. Honey finish on an ash body. Plecked neck with gun oil tint or GOT. BTW. This beast was wired by the factory with a series/single coil/ parallel switch. At least after an 18 week wait, I got something special out of it all.

Did they make the middle switch a 3 way toggle to do that?
no4mk1 06-08-2006, 10:55 PM Wow! That's a beauty!
I hope my L2.5K comes out that nice!
Cheers,
Chris

Well, everything went much faster then expected.
After just 5 weeks I got word from the dealer that my L2500 had arrived. Now a week of shipping to Holland, and it will be in my hands! :bassist:
no4mk1 06-17-2006, 10:58 AM Good news!
But where is my L2500? I've been waiting almost three months now! ;)

Rezdog 06-28-2006, 09:04 PM Greetings from the North,
Well I trapped enough pelts and payed my monies to the feller in Californi, who said (by telegraph) that my Vintage White L2500 with matchin haydstock would be on the UPS wagon train headin northeast thru the Rockies. Says he,"Don't fret, it'll be there when it gets there."
But truth be known........after a chat with Buffalo John we decided it might be better to ship it out right after the holiday weekend. I really don't like the idea of it just hangin around in an open bin :ninja: waiting to be put on a truck.
Yup, I got the short time itch.

Youngspanion 07-03-2006, 09:55 PM Woo Hoo!
LeftyJack 08-21-2006, 10:05 PM Thanks for the awesome pictures..you're a lucky man. I calculated that I have only another 104 days left until my ASAT arrives. Pictures certainly ease the pain of waiting.
