Hey guys, I am looking to get a new envelope filter, and I would love some input on your experience with what is out now.

I have used the Boss auto wah, mutron lll, and the digitech I just tried out for a few minutes the other day.

I have heard Norm Stockton play the black label EBS, and it sound pretty cool, but there are a lot of filters out now that I don't know anything about sonically.

If you could lead me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

I like a greasy, slippery " waahhhhoowwwwpppp" "whaowwwwmmm" sound if that helps any. lol

thaks, Joel Bryant

Well, I'm not the best at giving advice on this topic, as I avoid most effects, but I've fiddled with a few, for sheer "greasyness", the best was the Moog MF-101, but man, it's a beast, and costs a small fortune. For great tones, small footprint, and ease of use, the EBS one was my favorite.

If I were to get one and use it, it would be the EBS.

Here's my thoughts...

For super-grease, the Electro-Harmonix pedals get pretty wild! And they're very affordable.

For extremely tasteful grease and probably arguably the best bass pedals available in general...EBS. No question there, but is not a cheap pedal.

For a really kick-butt EF with some additional features, and probably one of the most fun EF's to play with, try the Pigtronix Envelope Phaser. This is my personal favorite EF. It's not cheap, but it's a killer unit!

All of them have their place, but these 3 are my picks!

Peace!

Have you checked out the Mutronics Mutator?? It's something I'm also looking into; costs about a grand though. :(
