I just put .45 - .100 gague strings on my fender precision, down from .50 - .105's, and they sound amazing. it makes me wonder why I ever went with a heavier gague. and I switched back to nickel Fender strings instead of stainless Ernie Balls...why did I ever stop using the fenders? I am so glad I decided to make this switch back.

What kind of bass do you have, and what are your other thoughts on the Fender nickle strings?

I've always used medium strings but have been wondering how heavies would sound on my Jazz bass, I've kind of assumed the decline in playability would be made up in that old school fat sound.
