VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : Roscoe body style poll
I thought it might be interesting to see which body style is preferred by TBers. For those Roscoeheads out there who already own a Roscoe (or two, or three, or four), let us know which body style is your FAVORITE. For those who are aspiring Roscoeheads, pick the one that you think you will most likely choose when you finally decide to pull the trigger.
DrMWP 06-27-2006, 01:55 PM Lemme see, ummm I'd have to say the SKB. :hyper: Can't wait.
maurilio 06-27-2006, 02:02 PM Hey Jay, wassup?
Visually, I personally prefer the SKB, but I like the Century better for its longer upper horn. I believe it balance better strapped on and makes the first fret easier to reach, IMO, IME ...
Mo'
Great idea for a poll, Jay! :)
...watching this one CLOSELY!!!
....and I think we all know my vote here...
:bassist:
I voted Century. Not because I have one, but because i'm waiting for mine to be finished up.
LizzyD 06-27-2006, 02:42 PM I have an LG and an SKB. I voted LG for the compact size which is very comfy for me! :D
NJL, yours don't count 'cuz it's BACKWARD!!!
:spit:
Lizzy! Hey, good to see you 'round!
:)
lpjiang 06-27-2006, 03:00 PM I'll go with LG. The small body feels very comfortable, without losing any punch.
Maybe SKB and Century shapes are more suitable for basses more than 5 strings, though.
LizzyD 06-27-2006, 03:09 PM Lizzy! Hey, good to see you 'round!
:)
Howdy! I'm still considering your preamp upgrade deal...in case you were wondering! It's on my ever growing to do list.

Anytime you're ready, we're here! :)
Wilbyman 06-27-2006, 03:33 PM The LG style is hellaciously nice on a strap.
Having tried Gard's Century real briefly, I think the Century gets the nod from me because of its excellent lap balance.
Shawnost 06-27-2006, 03:37 PM My personal favorite is the SKB, but the Century is a very close second.

What, Gard gave you a lap dance?
:p
Wilbyman 06-27-2006, 03:42 PM What, Gard gave you a lap dance?

Dude, that's just wrong. :spit:  :rollno: :D
I actually think that one deserves a few more rollno's:
:rollno: :rollno: :rollno:
:D ;)
just doing my part for the thread...
What, Gard gave you a lap dance?
:p
Even if I would do such a thing, I'm afraid I'd squish Will....
...thankfully for EVERYONE involved, I wouldn't ever do such a thing for a guy.
My wife, maybe, but a guy, uh uh!
:spit:
emjazz 06-27-2006, 05:00 PM Century for me.
Eggman 06-27-2006, 05:17 PM I voted LG -
cuz I have one and the unbalanced - squished look is growing on me. Should add - very comfy.
gkbass13 06-27-2006, 05:17 PM i love the skb's and the century's

Yup, Nord DC's!
:)
Figjam 06-27-2006, 06:23 PM LG
Its tough for me. I love the look of the SKB, but the LG is so comfortable. Id have to play a SKB to know hands down, but I think I still would vote it as my favorite.
greenbass 06-27-2006, 10:37 PM I voted LG....
poptart 06-28-2006, 05:41 AM I went for SKB - although I like the LG having played one - the Century is really growing on me but have not seen one to play. I would be interested to see how the shapes of all three vary by superimposing the body shapes over each other...sounds rude:D
Ryan L. 06-29-2006, 08:24 PM I have to give my vote to the SKB (I may be a bit biased). The LG's look too small for me.
The Century's look quite interesting, though. I am seriously considering one in a 4 string version in the future.
jimb213 06-30-2006, 10:06 AM having finally seen 'em all side-by-side (thanks gard!) I'm voting for LG. which I should be ordering tomorrow. :hyper:

I'd really like to be able to see a picture of them all like that too, so I could get a comparison of the Century vs. SKB bodies. (hint, hint Gard:D )
cuebill 06-30-2006, 04:25 PM Must be SKB for me since I've ordered two of 'em. :)

OK, OK. So I was too lazy to look for it myself. But thanks just the same, that was exactly what I wanted to see.:)
Edit: Now I feel like a complete retard. I just noticed that this is a sticky at the top of this forum. Doh!!

Hear me now, believe me later... I WILL own a Century 5'er in a few short years.

T. B. Player 07-04-2006, 05:21 PM What, Gard gave you a lap dance?
:p
NJL - Pay no attention to his "backward" comment. After all, look what happens when he spells his name backwards...:p
(Since he moderates this forum, he can take this out if he wants to!!!):D
I vote for the Century too - right or left. Just remember two syllables...Has-lip.
On a more serious note, I'd like to try making some myspace layouts. Anyone want one with their Roscoe in the background? These pix that Gard does with Roscoes on a black background would make some awesome sites (not to mention added promotional benefits)

Dude - when we use the word "retard" in our house, it costs us a buck! (Personally, I prefer the word "ritard" - much more musical....)
Ryan L. 10-07-2006, 08:58 PM Bumping this one back to the top to see if it gets a little more response. I may be faced with the choice between SKB and Century in the near future, and would like to see a few more opinions on this.:)
Id say keep with the SKB or shoot, take a look at an LG. When just looking at them, I prefer the SKB, but wearing the LG is extremely comfortable. Its a nice small body, so you might have to keep the body woods in mind to make sure its balenced ok. Mine is a Spanish Cedar body, and its the most comfortable feeling bass Ive ever played, and it also balances great.
edit: I know LG's look quite a bi smaller than SKB's, but Ive seen the bodies laid over each other, and there actually realy isnt THAT big of a differe nce in size. The LG looks smaller because of its shape, I guess.
I vote for the Century too - right or left. Just remember two syllables...Has-lip.
Actually, Jimmy has a couple of LG 3006's and (I believe) an SKB 3007, but no Century....yet....
I think I've already stated and voted my preference - I like them ALL, but...see the avatar. ;)

Gard, I think I sent you a PM sort of explaining my situation. ;) (If I didn't, I know I planned on it, so let me know if ya got it)

Time to get Mr. Haslip a Century....:D
wolfbass1025 10-08-2006, 09:45 AM I really dig the Century, but the LG is pretty classic. Maybe I'll have both someday. One bass at a time!!
Basso Gruvitas 10-09-2006, 10:03 PM Well, I've got 3 SKB's so what does that tell ya?:rollno:
Well, I've got 3 SKB's so what does that tell ya?
You like Roscoes?
You buy basses is threes?
You like guessing games?
You play bass?
:smug:
I'm with ya' Basso...I try to be impartial, but I like the SKB style myself. Of course, the Century Sig body style is close to making it a dead heat. :D
Fawkes007 10-10-2006, 01:33 PM I DIDN'T vote. Here's why...
I own an LG.
I have played a Century Sig.
They are both very nice. Honestly, I couldn't tell that much of a difference when playing them.
I liked the NECK on the Century a little better, but only becaus it was a little "fancier" In no way did I think it played any better.
It is kind of like asking which flavor of ice cream you like better.
I do know this...the next Roscoe I order will probably be a Century. And it may be a V. I don't know.
