I watched the victor wooten video on google and I cant get a clean sound no matter how slow i go
im not sure if it just takes more practice or if its my technique?

it is a difficult technique to master or to even be decent at. make sure youve got a decent setup on the bass, new strings, set the eq'ing for a ncie slap tone and start slow.

Clean? It doesn't sound clean when wooten does it either.. :hmm:
do u expect your thumb nail to sound the same as your index finger? A downstroke with your thumb to sound the same your thumb nail? Your downstroke with your thumb to sound the same as your middle and index finger pluck?
if you wanna play clean then double-thumping isn't for you, as hard as it is to make your fingerstyle sound consistent when you use the
the part of each finger, the fingertips...

for me, starting slow is the key. You said you already do that, so my next advice would be to try and figure out exactly where each finger needs to be throught the motion. As you do that, make sure no other fingers on your right hand are accidentally muting the string(i'm still having trouble with this when I try and speed it up:( ).
Suckbird,
check out some Alain Caron and Bunny Brunel for clean double-thumping
