I have raised a king-sized blister on the middle finger of my plucking hand. :crying: It won't heal very well as I always abuse it while practicing. Has anyone ever used the banjo-style finger picks for bass? I have read many threads on picking but none have addressed this kind of pick. Seems like metal-on-metal would sound tinny, but I can't hear it when Roy Clark goes wild...

Thanks...Google has a zillion makers of picks. I was wondering if anyone ever used them. I gonna get some to use so that my blister will heal.

There was a video floating around of some guy, I think he was named Dominique, playing a 6 string Fodera with a plastic banjolike pick on his thumb, and it was amazing.

I use something similar, Herco thumbpicks. They're actually pick shaped, although the pick material sucks. They need Dunlop Gator Grip or Tortex thumbpicks and I'd be happy

It's a different finger motion for banjo than bass - but i mean it could work. Di Piazza's style is very unconventional and not "bass" in it's socially accepted form. Because the banjo is played with the thumb, as well as the index and middle fingers it is picked up towards the ceiling much more directly than a bass (at least in my experience). The use of an anchored thumb prevents this motion on bass to me.
