Linas 07-17-2006, 03:11 AM Im game!
Warwickthumb 07-17-2006, 03:35 PM just one response?? Bumpity bump bump
I'd be down for a GTG if I don't have to work again.....
Warwickthumb 07-17-2006, 04:03 PM Ahh yes I remember. To bad, you missed a great GTG. Well hopefully with more advanced notice. All of you who couldnt make it. Will be able to.
Trevorus 07-17-2006, 04:04 PM I'd be for it. I know 2 TB'ers I could probably carpool with!
Eric Cioe 07-17-2006, 04:16 PM If it were after September 24, I'd love to come. I'm at home in Michigan until school starts, but when I get back to Hyde Park I'd totally be down for any GTG that might be happening.
CamMcIntyre 07-17-2006, 04:18 PM I'm back in Chicago for school August 26th any time after that i'm good. I'm game for going depending on location and day-need to get the day off from work/arrange travel.
take it easy.
jive1 07-17-2006, 05:01 PM Make it during the weekend of a Bears home game, and I might be down for coming up. I'll probably be in Chicago sometime in August, but I'm trying to hold off until Sept so I can catch the Bears-Lions game on Sept 17th.
I'd love to meet some Chi-Town TBers
SuperDuck 07-17-2006, 05:11 PM I had a good time at the last gtg. Perhaps I can convince Dave (The Golden Boy) that he needs to come down, too. :D
superbassman2000 07-17-2006, 05:28 PM i'd love to come down if it was before september, because unlike all the other students in this thread so far, i am going north :)
Warwickthumb 07-19-2006, 03:31 PM Great! Thanks guys for responding. We're going to have the GTG at the same place as last year. I got the ok from Mark. So heres the breakdown.
Chicago GTG
at: The Bass Club Chicago
date: looking at Sept or October
Count me as a maybe...it depends on if that's a weekend I have my son or not. If I don't, I'll be there with bells (and maybe a Jerzy).
Warwickthumb 07-19-2006, 07:29 PM Oh one thing I forgot to mention. If any of you are interested in giving a clinic let me know. We should have a gtg during the spring/summer. Just send me some info on work you've done with music. And a breakdown of what you would do at a clinic. This will give us all a chance to learn from each other.
Trevorus 07-19-2006, 07:36 PM I could give a clinic on how NOT to play the bass.
Really, I'm that bad... :hiding:
This would be a lot of fun! What about bringing our own basses and gear to show off?
pgurns 07-19-2006, 07:49 PM I'm glad I saw this post. I'm up for the GTG I live in Mchenry about 45 minutes from Loves Park Let me know if I can bring anything food, basses, amps whatever.
Paul
Tired_Thumb 07-19-2006, 07:55 PM I could be there, depending on the details.
uglycicles 07-19-2006, 07:59 PM Make it during the weekend of a Bears home game, and I might be down for coming up. I'll probably be in Chicago sometime in August, but I'm trying to hold off until Sept so I can catch the Bears-Lions game on Sept 17th.

Let me know if you make the game Jive, I'm at every one of them and this year have 1) the coveted South lot parking pass (i.e.: tailgating) 2) the wife's minivan. :bassist:
Oh, and I will try to make the GTG. Mark's shop is very nice and though I had to bail mid-Jauqo clinic last time around (sick kids at home), I would like to come again.
Warwickthumb pulled off a really nice one last time around - good to see he's takin' the lead again!
jive1 07-19-2006, 11:01 PM Let me know if you make the game Jive, I'm at every one of them and this year have 1) the coveted South lot parking pass (i.e.: tailgating) 2) the wife's minivan. :bassist:
That's as killer as a busload of Mini-Ditkas. South Lot, home opener, the beloved....... That's good living right there.
I'll definitely let you know if I come in that weekend.
I also have my sights on the Packer game on New Years Eve too.
Bears & Bass............
My personal heaven
Warwickthumb 07-20-2006, 03:12 AM This would be a lot of fun! What about bringing our own basses and gear to show off?
I belive thats GTG tradition. paintsk8 brought his handmade electic uprtight. It was very impressive!! Food is something we should consider this year. I dont know were we are going to put it if the place fills up again. Maybe if we buy from that guy a few stores down. He'll leave us alone. Remember that guy??
Should this be stickied? We should take a head count when we get an actual date set....
JoshB 07-31-2006, 05:55 AM I'd be up for it again...in fact, I've been looking forward to it. I agree...let's get this stuck at the top. I'll PM a mod...
JoshB 07-31-2006, 05:59 AM Alright...I PM'd the mods so hopefully this will be a sticky sometime soon...
*edit* john made us a sticky! Yay!
man...I need more coffee...
Warwickthumb 07-31-2006, 02:19 PM Great more responses!! So what works for you guys? Sept or October? Also I keep forgeting to add this. Jauqo will be givng a clinic if his schedule allows. Thats fine though, plenty of ways to fill time.
Joe
Trevorus 07-31-2006, 02:24 PM Is this the place?

???
That's the one!
Can't wait for the GTG.
Dr. Cheese 07-31-2006, 03:06 PM Any idea when this GTG would be? I would like to attend. I only live about four hours south of Chicago and I have never been to BassClub Chicago either.:) If the date has not been set, I would have it is not during the weekend of the 20th. I will probably be in Arizona that weekend.
Im still sort of a newbee, But I just live up in Madison wi and would love to go if you all would have me and I can get away from work.;)
paintandsk8 08-01-2006, 12:57 AM I'm definetly in again. Just to get the ball rolling I'll say that september is probably better for me (not to mention being sooner ;) ), but I'm pretty flexible. And guess what! I've finished another home - made bass I can't wait to show off! I'd say we need to get on setting a date though if were looking as soon as september.
Warwickthumb 08-01-2006, 03:53 AM How does October 7th work for yall? Its the first weekend of october. The only reason why im having it that late. Is that it gives everyone plenty of time to clear their schedual for that day. I hope
How does October 7th work for yall? Its the first weekend of october. The only reason why im having it that late. Is that it gives everyone plenty of time to clear their schedual for that day. I hopeHey...thats my birthday!
If I don't have my son that day, I'll be there!
Eric Cioe 08-01-2006, 11:47 AM How does October 7th work for yall? Its the first weekend of october. The only reason why im having it that late. Is that it gives everyone plenty of time to clear their schedual for that day. I hope
Works great for me.
paintandsk8 08-01-2006, 12:00 PM clear right now, i'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.
JoshB 08-01-2006, 12:38 PM Oct. 7th is cool with me I believe...
It's a 6 hour drive for me. However, I just checked out the Bass Club web site. The tremendous advantage for me is that I could finally see and play some high-quality basses and amps. There's really no place close to me to do this. There's a shop here that has one G&L. Other than that, the best you'll find in the music stores around here are MIM P-Basses. Occasionally a used Ric shows up...
Depending upon the date, I'd consider coming early just so I could spend some time looking at quality basses. Maybe drive up the night before and grab a motel. Then spend some time before GTG - browsing.
Man, their web site sure could used some navigational help.
I'd like to help out if I could. I work for a hotel in Oakbrook Terrace, Here (http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/sb/1/en/hd/chiot) and depending on availability I can get ya'll a standard room for 29 bucks a night. It's close by I-88 and I-294 so it'd be about a 20-30 minute drive on the tollway if you were to stay at my hotel.
Just thought I'd offer :)
Edit: Just checked and I've got more than enough rooms. PM me if anyone's interested.
uglycicles 08-01-2006, 08:29 PM I'll be taking the fam to Disneyworld that week - can't make it, but have fun!
Warwickthumb 08-02-2006, 02:19 PM I'm waiting on the date approval from Mark. If I remember correctly last year we started around 2 or 3 and ended around 6. That was about the time the store closed. We'll do the same this year.
jive1 08-02-2006, 03:17 PM I probably won't be in town that weekend, unless I get a wild hair up my arse, my schedule frees up, and a ticket to the Bears-Bills game magically appears.
Warwickthumb 08-03-2006, 02:01 PM Ok so I got an email back from Mark. Sunday looks like it will work out better for parking and everything else. We did pack that lot. And the guy next store was a pit pissed. So it looks like the new date will be Sunday October 8th. How does that work?
Eric Cioe 08-03-2006, 04:07 PM Dandy by me.
jive1 08-03-2006, 04:09 PM So it looks like the new date will be Sunday October 8th. How does that work?
But that's football day..........
Isn't that against the law in Bear country?
:ninja:
JoshB 08-03-2006, 04:54 PM Sunday's are out for me...
Trevorus 08-03-2006, 05:37 PM Sunday's are out for me...
Pretty much the same for me.
But that's football day..........
Isn't that against the law in Bear country?
:ninja:
Ooh man that's rough. :hmm:
I might be out too if a friend of mine offers me a seat at da Bears game.
paintandsk8 08-04-2006, 12:35 AM Yeah that takes me out too, I've got suite tickets for Colts Vs. Titans that day.
Warwickthumb 08-04-2006, 01:38 AM sigh... so is there another sunday that works better for more people?
JoshB 08-04-2006, 01:54 PM sigh... so is there another sunday that works better for more people?
not for me...Sundays are always out. Saturdays I can do...Sunday's I can't.
What about carpooling? If we keep the amount of cars down...or find some other places to park nearby?
If you're looking for a Sunday when there's no Bears game, Sunday, October 22 is a bye week, and the previous week is actually a Monday night game. There are two Sundays in a row.
I have visitation with my son every other weekend, so my ability to make it depends on that.
I might go :ninja:
I'm still angry about missing that Jauqo gig there a few months back. :scowl:
Sunday, Oct 8 works for me so long as it was earlier in the day -- I've got a 6 hour drive to get home so I need to leave by 4pm or so.
Saturdays might work better just from a socializing point - if we wanted to hit a club in the evening or something... just a thought. I could then grab a motel and drive home in the morning.
I'm sorry did you say "club"? :hmm: :D
Like I said, if you need a place to stay that's close by I-88 send me a PM. :)
Warwickthumb 08-08-2006, 03:21 AM IM gonna gonna send mark an email about parking. This is really the only reason it would work on a sat. I havent given up yet.
sasred 08-09-2006, 02:13 PM Are newbies welcome? Date wouldn't matter for me, I can always ask off work. Getting to the Bass Club would be tricky for me as I'm reliant on the good ol' CTA, but I'd swing it.
Will give my teacher the heads up as well, he'd like to do something like this, I'm sure.
FrigginChris 08-09-2006, 02:35 PM i might come too, it's only an hour train ride into the city and i could probably walk or get a cab for the rest of the way.
sasred 08-09-2006, 02:39 PM Thanks, I looked at the web site - looks fairly nice and reasonably close to the GTG
Just noticed your icon--fellow Red Dwarf fan?? :hyper:
sasred 08-09-2006, 04:04 PM Smegging right!
Triple bummed about the movie never getting made and apparently abandoning the series as well. IMO, it was one of the best and funniest shows ever made. The chemistry of the actors and the writing was phenominal.
"Just out of interest: Is Silicon Heaven the same place as human Heaven?"
"Human heaven? Goodness me, humans don't go to Heaven! No, someone made that up to prevent you all from going nuts!"
One of the best quotes of that series. :D Last I heard on the movie was that they'd changed filming location for the umpteenth time, to Australia...but that was over a year ago. Shame indeed that they're letting such genius go...have you ever seen the American pilot? It was AWFUL!!!!
Would be cool to meet up at the GTG, if we can both make it. :)
sasred 08-09-2006, 04:46 PM Did not bother with the Am. pilot - everyone gave it a thumbs down.
But you just could not do Red Dwarf without the original actors: Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules, Robert Llewellyn, Norman Lovett, Hattie Hayridge. Ideally, Grant/Naylor should direct/produce. It doesn't get anybetter than the original. It's not the 'situation' that's funny so much as the writing combined with the incredible delivery and chemistry between the actors.
If the Chicago GTG works out, we'll definitely touch base....
I totally agree, the combination of all of the fine actors and writers involved is what makes it what it is. Sheer genius! I don't know how possible it is to get them all together again though...apparently Craig Charles just got busted for something or other? (Heard rumor to that effect while in the UK recently.) *sigh* Maybe someday...
Will defo keep tabs on this GTG...in the meantime, I think I have my e-mail link on my profile, should the fancy strike...:) Don't know how much bass I can discuss, still being a beginner, but Dwarf I can blabber on about for a while.
Warwickthumb 08-10-2006, 05:39 AM Would having the GTG during the week work out for you guys?
This might actually work better all around.
sasred 08-10-2006, 10:43 AM I'm flexible, would just need sufficient advance notice (at least 3 weeks) so I can get the time off. But it looks like you're trying to firm something up soonish, so we're good there. :)
pgurns 08-10-2006, 09:38 PM Are newbies welcome? Date wouldn't matter for me, I can always ask off work. Getting to the Bass Club would be tricky for me as I'm reliant on the good ol' CTA, but I'd swing it.
Will give my teacher the heads up as well, he'd like to do something like this, I'm sure.
Send me a PM. I'm in the far NW burbs I'm sure I can swing by and get you there.
paintandsk8 08-11-2006, 08:41 PM Would having the GTG during the week work out for you guys?
This might actually work better all around.
It would probably be hard for out of towners like me to swing it on a weekday. It would just depend on the day for me. Bass club is definetly an awesome venue but do we have any other options if it comes down to it?
JoshB 08-11-2006, 11:36 PM well...vic, trev and I are all about 2.5-3 hours south...so a weekday is most likely out for at least me...
sasred 08-12-2006, 12:25 AM Send me a PM. I'm in the far NW burbs I'm sure I can swing by and get you there.
Done and dusted. :)
Trevorus 08-12-2006, 12:29 AM well...vic, trev and I are all about 2.5-3 hours south...so a weekday is most likely out for at least me...
I could make it possibly. I'd have to drive my truck, which would be pricey.
In fact, I live about an hour SW. from the Bass Club. If some of you were to get a motel in that direction and needed a ride to/from the motel I may be able to taxi a couple of you.
Of course gear would be a limiting factor. Honda Accord wagon...I'll bring 4 dozen bottles of water if I am allowed to volunteer unless tradition has everybody fending for themself...???? I'd be more useful hauling that in than y'all listening to anything I had to play :o
Robear22 08-14-2006, 12:02 PM I am in if it is done on any day but Sunday. And hopefully before October. I would just have to take off during the week but I got enough vacation left so that should not be a problem.
Would having the GTG during the week work out for you guys?
This might actually work better all around.School + HW = no weekday GTG for Alex. :hmm:
I'm afraid I won't be able to attend a mid-week GTG, either...I might be able to do a Friday, but Saturdays and Sundays tend to be best for me.
HardTech 08-18-2006, 10:40 PM I'd like to attend
Saturdays work best for me, but that probably doesn't matter since I'm new to this board :D
Fred312b 08-19-2006, 02:57 PM I'd be down for a gtg- keep me informed... :bassist:
Yell03SpecV 08-24-2006, 09:29 PM Dear glory -- a 5 minute drive for me, so pretty much any day works (past 6:30 p.m. on weekdays, though.)! I bought one of my Spectors from Mark, and used to live within walking distance of that place. I'm always game for whatever, and even small GTGs (few people for dinner/drinks) are fun. I'm in Orland/Palos park, so anybody around the area should feel free to shoot me a PM sometime!
paintandsk8 08-25-2006, 07:33 PM Hey Joe, you still alive? Haven't heard an update in a while just wondering if we've made an progress. Just to recap saturdays are bad because of the parking thing, sundays are bad because of all us football guys and various other reasons, and weekdays are bad for all the out of towners, right?
tadrex 08-26-2006, 02:30 AM Would a Packer fan be allowed to come even if the Pack beats the Bears in the season opener at Lambeau Field?:hiding: Please!:)
Great excuse to come and check out some high end gear and hear some excellant players. High end gear is non existent up here.
Saturday works best for me. I'll be bringing at least one more also.
Would a Packer fan be allowed to come even if the Pack beats the Bears in the season opener at Lambeau Field?
Absolutely not! :D
Well, Packs won't beat Da Bears, at least not with Ditka commentating....
Yell03SpecV 08-26-2006, 08:35 AM ...saturdays are bad because of the parking thing...
You can park across Cicero without an issue.
You can park across Cicero without an issue.Yeah. I wouldn't rule out Saturdays just because of parking. There's plenty of parking throughout town. So what if people need to walk 5 minutes from their car to the store?
Warwickthumb 08-26-2006, 05:51 PM Sorry guys ive been slacking on this GTG thing. Saturdays seem to work out the best. There should be places around to park. Ill be taking 90 from Rockford. So if anyone is on the way there. And its not to far out of the way and I wont get lost on the way there:) Im willing to pick ya up. My SUV can hold 7. So if that helps great!
Joe
Warwickthumb 08-26-2006, 05:55 PM Newbies, oldbies, double bassers, plankslapers, Bear fans, Packer fans, wipersnappers, old gezzers all are welcome to the GTG!!!!! Packer fans have special reserved seating in the bathroom:)
Yell03SpecV 08-28-2006, 10:54 AM Is this neighborhood fairly safe? Can I park my vehicle in a monitored lot or other place within walking distance where I won't have to worry?
Monitored lot? This isn't Murdertown/Englewood we're talking here. You can park directly across Cicero Av. with no issues.
tadrex 08-28-2006, 11:30 AM Packer fans have special reserved seating in the bathroom:)
LOL!:p You are kidding, right?:eyebrow:
Just make sure it's clean!
Oh that's right, bears don't use bathrooms anyway.:hiding:
paintandsk8 08-28-2006, 02:06 PM Ok, so now that were back to saturdays again, what about a date? Originally we were looking at October 7th, does that still work? Looking at my calendar that or the week before (sep. 30) look good, but the next 2 are iffy. Those are rolling around pretty quick though, and i know several people need plenty of notice, and if we want a clinic we need to get a date in mind soon. Thoughts? Does Mark have any preference on dates or input on the parking thing?
Yell03SpecV 08-28-2006, 02:13 PM Hell, I'd be happy doing it this saturday.
BillyB_from_LZ 08-28-2006, 02:30 PM I'm in...date or time don't matter much.
At the last GTG, did folks bring their basses and/or other gear or ???
I'll see who else I can round up too...Eli lives near me but LonnyBass moved into the City so he's on his own...
tadrex 08-29-2006, 12:58 AM OCTOBER 7 http://www.talkbass.com/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif
Trevorus 08-29-2006, 01:15 AM Alrighty, saturdays are looking good for me!
Munjibunga 08-29-2006, 01:23 AM I'll probably be in Chicago on October 13, 14 and 15 for a conference. Possibly could sneak out on the 14th.
sasred 08-29-2006, 12:17 PM Newbies, oldbies, double bassers, plankslapers, Bear fans, Packer fans, wipersnappers, old gezzers all are welcome to the GTG!!!!! Packer fans have special reserved seating in the bathroom:)
Gee, thanks...well, if Packer fans have special seating in the bathroom, where are the Bear fans sitting? Didn't know the Bass Club had outhouse facilities...:hiding: :D
Oh, wait, oops...I keep forgetting I claim enemy territory as living quarters these days. :crying: (Born and bred Cheesehead, in case you couldn't tell.)
Glad this topic's buzzin' again, I was starting to get worried...hope for a date soon, got a few friends I wanna invite. :) Looking forward to the GTG!
Oh that's right, bears don't use bathrooms anyway.:hiding:Oh yeah?
The last Bears / Packers game I went to, it was jerks wearing Packers jerseys peeing in the sinks instead of the urinals. :rollno:
BillyB_from_LZ 08-29-2006, 10:33 PM What is it with those that attend pro sporting events. I took the family to a Cubs game at Wrigley a few years ago and the only thing that gets discussed is the woman blowing chunks in the aisle next to us...
I think we should base (bass?) the GTG schedule on Munji's visit to Chicago...after all, he has 12,000 posts ;) :D
Sarcasm aside...I think we should consider it.
tadrex 08-30-2006, 02:18 AM October 14 works for me! Even if I have spent all my cash on TBCs. What about everyone else? I would drive to Chicago special just to meet someone who has achieved 12,000 post status....
+1 I'll second that!
Trevorus 08-30-2006, 02:35 AM Heck yeah. I want to finally meet the man that is munji. Almost as legendary as the qintar. (and I have talked to him...)
JoshB 08-30-2006, 02:50 AM looks like I'm out fellas...between school, homework, work, etc...I'm booked pretty solid till the holiday season and beyond...
Musiclogic 08-30-2006, 10:21 AM I could give a clinic on how NOT to play the bass.
Really, I'm that bad... :hiding:
This would be a lot of fun! What about bringing our own basses and gear to show off?
Hey Trev, I'd be up for helping out with that clinic.....my chops went in the trash about 10 years ago when I started building and repairing for a living....LMAO
paintandsk8 08-30-2006, 12:07 PM hmm Oct 14 is iffy for me. Might be on a road trip that weekend but there aren't any definite plans yet. Joe, what's the status on clinic arrangements? If were looking at having Juaqo III-X again, then picking a date may depend on his schedule. If we don't have anyone lined up, I could talk to Scott Pazera, but he has gigs everys saturday in october except for the 21st.
Warwickthumb 08-31-2006, 07:55 PM Really any date more or less swings well with Mark. This really up to getting at least a fair majority who can come on a certain day. No needs to worry about parking safety in this location. Paint.. So far Jauqos scheadal (sp???) is working out. Ive been considering using scott for the next GTG. Great guy. I had the grand oppritunity to get some lessons from him way back. Sorry Packer fans, thats life:)
pgurns 08-31-2006, 10:05 PM I'm in...date or time don't matter much.

Hey Billy... Does LZ stand for Lake Zurich?
Fred312b 08-31-2006, 10:40 PM why don't we just have munji do a clinic? playing with sarcasm? ;)
BillyB_from_LZ 08-31-2006, 11:32 PM Hey Billy... Does LZ stand for Lake Zurich?
Yep...
paintandsk8 09-01-2006, 02:24 PM Really any date more or less swings well with Mark. This really up to getting at least a fair majority who can come on a certain day. Cool. We could just post a poll with all the weekends in october, or more, allowing multiple votes. Everyone who is fairly certain they would come can vote for whatever dates they have open. Seems to me like the easiest way to pick a date.

Where will you be posting this poll? (Sorry if you've already posted it and it's sitting right in front of my nose; had to post here to re-subscribe to the thread. :) )
paintandsk8 09-04-2006, 09:07 PM The poll is just an idea I wanted to throw out at this point. If it does go up I'm sure it will be in this forum.

Warwickthumb 09-04-2006, 10:29 PM ya know it was so much easier last year to put this together.:) The turnout blew my mind
Lonnybass 09-05-2006, 05:53 PM Lonnybass wants to go!!!
Warwickthumb 09-05-2006, 07:33 PM Great idea on the poll. Here's a link to the poll.

Thanks for putting that up. Need to check my school schedule to have a firm idea--how long will the poll be open for?

I have it set for 30 days
sasred 09-05-2006, 07:58 PM I have it set for 30 days
Cool. Cheers! Though I suppose you won't wait that long for an answer as that would take us to the first proposed date...I just need until tomorrow to unearth my paperwork. :p
Warwickthumb 09-05-2006, 09:55 PM Just making sure everyone gets a chance. And plan ahead. If you see a line going further then the others. You can bett hat will be the day.
Yep...haha, Central got your football coach...
sasred 09-07-2006, 03:12 PM Come on, peeps, get over to the poll and vote for when you want this thing! Surely there's more than 8 people wanting to turn up? :(
Musiclogic 09-10-2006, 11:15 PM I guess most people are waiting on a definitive date so they can plan instead of voting.....LOL
Lonnybass 09-11-2006, 12:00 PM Thanks for the heads-up BillyB! I've put in a vote for Oct. 14.
Lonnybass
Rimshot 09-11-2006, 04:33 PM I'd like to come...I don't post here often, but I lurk and read a lot. I'm in Elk Grove
I can't come the weekends of the 14th or 28th so I voted for the 7th...it looks like I'm the only one.:rollno:
Looks like the 14th is far ahead of everything else....is that when this GTG is happening?
paintandsk8 09-22-2006, 07:37 PM I've got the 14th penciled in on my calendar, it goes in ink whenever Joe gives the word.
Warwickthumb 09-23-2006, 01:49 AM Are you sure you can go? I though you mentioned it wasnt going to work out. Well I think I can positivly,100%, without a doubt say it will be October 14th. Mark wants to know if it will be a morning thing. I belive there will be some out of towners coming in right??? So the morning may not work. I was looking at noon or 1. I think we started roughly at 2:45 last time right??
paintandsk8 09-23-2006, 11:20 AM Yeah I can go. I was going to go to an OAR show that night, so another day would have been better, but I've seen them before & I haven't bought tickets yet, so I'm gonna plan on coming to GTG unless something changes. There are out of towner's coming in (me!). I've got a two hour drive, and I know we had some make a 3 hour drive last year, so maybe 1 would be a safe option.

BillyB_from_LZ 09-26-2006, 02:31 PM ...At the last GTG, did folks bring their basses and/or other gear or ???...
I don't believe that I ever saw any response to this question.
Any thoughts?
Warwickthumb 09-26-2006, 02:44 PM Yep everyone brought thier gear. I wouldn't bring your whole arsenal though. If you have one. Not to mention there are plenty of amps to play through.
Warwickthumb 09-26-2006, 02:54 PM Also one thing i forgot about again. Snacks and beverages. (thanks Billy) Now, there is a bp and dunkin donuts across the street. Or we can get some people together who would be willing to bring stuff. And lets not forget the man who owns a deli or what ever it is a few doors down. Maybe if we buy stuff from him, hell leave us alone this time:D Seriusly though let me know what ya guys think.
Joe
Trevorus 09-26-2006, 02:59 PM I'm not sure what I'll bring as far as gear, myself. I have two semi-rare cabinets...
Maybe I'll bring both.
Maybe I should bring my TBC collection? (5 of 'em now)
Heck yeah! I'm bringing my entire GrooveTools collection...
Robear22 09-26-2006, 04:01 PM What time will this thing start? I would love to be there on time but I coach on Saturday's and live an hour away so hopefully it will start at 2 so I won't miss too much....... hint, hint.

Currently scheduled noon - 4:00 pm. You'll have plenty of time!
pgurns 09-26-2006, 09:14 PM I'm definitely in. I'm glad we got a date nailed down. :)
I have a G&L L1000 if anyone has any interest in hearing one or playing one I can bring it.
BillyB_from_LZ 09-26-2006, 10:08 PM Hey Munji, think you can make it?
Warwickthumb 09-27-2006, 05:08 AM After the GTG i will be posting a thread for comments/suggestions. This will be the second year we had a Chicago GTG. I know it will be better then last years!! I have looked at some of your suggestions and have taken them into consideration for the next GTG. Im planning on having it in the spring. Mark has been kind of enough to let us use his shop. But i think its time to try a diffrent place. I have one place in mind right now. And I will be contacting him soon. Im sure you all know who/what it is:bassist: . And I will try my best to make it happen!!! Also im wondering if I could recuit a few of you to help me plan this and other upcoming GTGs. Just a thought.
tycobb73 09-27-2006, 03:07 PM What usually goes on at these things? I wouldn't mind going but my chops arent in condition yet after my 10 year hiatus and I really don't want to play. But to hang out and get to know some of you would be great. And the wife wants to go to chicago anyhow.
Warwickthumb 09-27-2006, 03:23 PM Basicly Jauqo will give a clinic. And I'm sure they will be a Q&A session. After that basiclly we hang out. Check out other peoples gear. Play some of the basses Mark has at the Bass Club. So if you feel your chops arnt up to par. THats no reason not to go. Who knows you may learn something.
Joe
Warwickthumb 09-27-2006, 03:27 PM I haven't seen vic reply on the boards. Hmm wonders if he knows. I promise I wont dog your MTD this time!!!
paintandsk8 09-27-2006, 04:58 PM Several things:
What is the parking situation? We definetly need to have a solid idea of where we can park since that was one of the issues in setting this whole thing up.
When it comes to bringing gear I'm all for checking out all kinds of stuff, but remember Bass club is a small shop. Last year we pretty much packed it out and I'm counting on having more people this year, so we may need to keep the bass count down to what you really want to show off, or at least leave stuff in your car and bring in a few at a time. Once we get a roll call/gear call thread going we should have a better idea. I'll try to get one going in the next few days.
When it comes to amps, It got loud in there last year. We spend all our time on here bashing guitar players at GC for cranking up there amps then we go and do the same thing at the GTG. Let's keep it down this year.
Joe, if you need help with anything for this or future GTG's just lemme know!
Warwickthumb 09-27-2006, 07:35 PM Good Call!! If you bring alot of gear thats cool. But you might have to leave some in the car until the clinic is over. Of course that depends on how many come. Last year we literaly packed the joint!!!!! And there was barley any room to breathe. Im of course hoping for a bigger turnout. But who knows. Ahh yes parking. That was a big deal last year. We had to fight with a the resturant owner about parking. He says we were taking business away from him. Which he had none anyways. Go figure. There is some parking in the back. Thats were I parked. There is a duncan donuts across the street. Maybe if you buy a donut they wont mind. I think some people parked on the street past the DD. Anyone remember? Like Ive said before. I know space and parking is limited. So Im working on changing some things for the next GTG.
pgurns 09-27-2006, 10:18 PM +1 on lending a hand. please feel free to PM me about anything you need help with, whether it be this GTG or next years. If I can help lemme know and I will PM you my contact info.
Paul

BillyB_from_LZ 09-28-2006, 10:49 AM ...
A clinic where I might accidently learn a thing or two would also be cool. The nice thing about being a beginner is that you can learn things from almost everyone else! :bassist:
Any player can learn from any other player regardless of relative abilities. I think that Victor Wooten mentioned in one of his videos that when he first started playing with Bela Fleck, he had Bela play his bass for a while...from which he gained inspiration.
I'm a rather simple player and I've been told by a friend that he finds it very difficult to play with that much space between notes....so even a guy with an impressive command of the instrument can learn something from me.
So...please play away at the GTG (and if I'm standing around please remind me of my own advice)....it's a rare opportunity to try out different instruments and other gear.
Warwickthumb 10-03-2006, 03:47 PM One thing i keep on forgeting to post. Some of you posted or have PMed me about snacks. For those of you so kindly offering to bring snacks pm me about what your planning on bringing. So i have a general conseses(sp??) of whats being brought.
LaneOnBass 10-13-2006, 02:27 PM Although I'm a member here, I don't get to hang out nearly as much as I would like. But I did want to let y'all know I'll be at this one, and I'll be bringing a my personal WT1205/610XLT rig, as well as a D212XLT and 210MBX. If all goes well, I'll also have the new WTX260. Might even have a few T-shirts and stuff.
Can't wait to see Jauqo III-X again...
clavefa 10-13-2006, 08:15 PM I won't be able to make this GTG like I wanted:scowl:
I have to work tomorrow.
I could'nt say no b/c i only started working there 3 weeks
ago.
It's a small CPA firm in the loop and this is the final weekend

their tax returns so everybody is working .
I get off @ 3:00 PM so that settles that.
On the plus side it is time and a half and free lunch.
I was really looking foward to meet my fellow lowenders
I know JAUQOs' set will be sick!:bassist:
And I was going to show off the OlP i just bought with a Basslines and flats.

Oz
Dr. Cheese 10-15-2006, 10:10 PM I just posted about the GTG on the roll call thread. If the moderator wants to move it, that would be fine.:)
