i am about 98% done shaping my first two necks.

currently i am using a work bench and hanging about 60% of the neck of the edge so that i can use rasps and a spokeshave, then i turn the neck around and repeat the shaping process. having one end unsupported might be contributing to some of the spokeshave chatter i am getting and i also have to spend extra care making sure that there isnt a dip or hump in the middle where my shaping might be overlapping.

i am drawing out plans for a jig/stand that i can put a clamp on the heel and a clamp on the headstock that would leave the to-be-shaped area unobstructed.

how do you guys secure your necks while shaping?
