VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : Neck shape/profile
maurilio 07-27-2006, 07:39 PM Hello,
I was checking with Gard about the different neck shapes. They have a thinner/modern one and a "chunkier" one...
I'm a little bit confuse about their profile... IYE guys, what other bass would you say has a similar "chunky", resp. thinner, shape to the Roscoe's?
I don't like a neck too thin. Although in the beginning it feel faster and easier to play, it gives me hand problems!
My favourite/perfect neck shape is my Sadowsky 5!
Thanks much

maurilio 07-27-2006, 08:27 PM ... no one has an idea? Interesting!
Roscoe used to have three shapes, a fat/chunky one, a thin one and something in between.
I just need some references so I can decide on what shape to order...
The "chunky" one are more like Warmoth/Valenti or Sadowsky?
The thinner are more like Fodera/Mtd or Moses super thin like?
... and so on...
Thank you very much.

wujuu 07-28-2006, 01:11 AM i'm kinda curious about this too, anyone wanna compare the different roscoe necks to some other stuff?
maurilio 07-28-2006, 01:35 AM Hello there,
it is interesting, no? No opinion, no reply!... probably, all these Roscoeheads are busy playing their babies :smug:
If there was a dealer in town, I would be checking by myself, but L.A. kinda sucks for these stuff
Let's see...

Mo, my suggestion would be that you go with the "standard" profile. The closest I can find to our "thin" profile would be the Modulus Q series necks, which you will probably find uncomfortable.

I would also recommend the standard profile unless you have played a Roscoe and, for some reason, have found the neck to be not to your liking AND have a clear (and possibly "measurable") determination as to what you would like to be different. I have found good homes for a lot of Roscoes, but if memory serves, have only had one customer order a custom profile. He wanted something thicker and meatier and was very happy with the results. But, with that said, even though variations are possible....deviating from that standard just for the sake of being different isn't recommended! :smug: The standard Roscoe neck shape has made a LOT of discriminating players very happy over the years. ;)
maurilio 07-29-2006, 01:17 PM ...sorry, been busy!
THANKS guys, appreciate!
Gard, you're right, I'm not very fond of Modulus necks!
JPJ, agreed! I'm not that much of a snob: "my neck is a special shaped one" :spit: :D
Like you've said, most of the Roscoe's out there have standard necks... I'm just trying to get a better idea of how different are these two shapes.
Like I've previously mentioned, I love my Sadowsky's neck. It's not at all a thin one, it has some meat, but it's not thick/chunky like the Fender Dlx V I used to own.
Have a nice w-e
