This is my first neck that I am building. I used cheap wood so if i messed up it would not have been a biggy ( I did messed up on the angle but I saved it) I would just like know if I am using the tools I am using and if im doing it the right way.

I have never built a neck, but I think you should have used more clamping force.
Good luck.

what woods are that? one peice looks like pine plywood, which would not work. also, how did you do the scarf? It's not clear from your photos.

As above, you'll need a lot more clamping force. C-Clamps, not those springloaded ones.
Other than that, looks like a good test so far. I might follow your concept and make myself a 2x4 neck to test methods my first time... :D

sorry didnt answer about the scarf missed that part what I did for the scraf i cut it at a 15 degree angle and glued it down to make the angle. I clamed it sideways first to provent the wood from sliding and then clamed it on the top to make it tight. Hopely you get that, I am bad at wording.:smug:

well heres after I cut it in the shape of a neck haha and as you can see i messed up on the angle. Its alittle more than 15 degrees. well I just want to see if this is how a neck should be built. For the real one which will be coming up in like a week or two I will buy more c clamps. One last question would paralelle clamps( I think thats what they are call) be okay for clamping the neck?
thanks

Yep, get yourself some more clamps. For a neck, you can't have too many.

That is an interesting way to do a scarf joint (where headstock attaches to neck); almost like a mortise and tenon situation.
