....relevant, (I hope) cuz I used so many techniques I learned from all you great guys to build this. So, this one's dedicated to all of you in the Luthier's Corner!

This one's nearly finished, it's my compact guitar model I'm going to call the Kestrel:

7 String geetar
1 piece bubinga body
Katalox / ipe / purpleheart neck w/ diagonal ipe lams
Purpleheart fingerboard, stainless steel frets, 26 inch scale, zero fret w/ guiding nut
padouk heel block and headstock lamination (darkened)
purpleheart facing on front and back of headstock
super compact headstock
One Seymour Duncan pu, one volume, Grover tuners
Teak oiled in pics, wax finish when completed.

It's not heavy at all, even with the heavy woods I used. It's only 32" long. Long scale, short guitar.

I'll do a bass next, I promise!

Wow, dude. Very cool. I'm really digging the circular control cavity. The volute at the back of the headstock is drool inducing as well.

Nice job! Heck....7 strings, you're almost in bass-land.

I bet a bass version of that would rock!

Nice work mate.

Thanks fellas! :) I'll post one more pic when it's completed. Then the next project is a fretless 6 w/ a really funky design. It's for a friend of mine who is really into Primus and stuff like that, so it's gonna have the rainbow thing going on.

Wow, that came out great! I love the single p-up design, and the headstock is pretty slick too.

If you ever have a need to "move it" to make more space, let me know :)

Sweet! The last g**tar I finished was a 7 as well, with a bubinga top, 1 pickup, 1 volume... what model of pickup was it? I ended up going through 3 pickups before I found one I liked. Do you notice much of a difference with the 26" scale? Finally, what string gauges did you end up using? (That's probably enough questions for now.) Thanks!
