I have decided to turn my Thunderbird into a Fenderbird. I am in the process of taking apart the Thunderbird but am stuck. I can't get the body inserts out of the body. Does anyone have any smart ideas on how to get them out?

you need to buy or make threaded insert puller. easy way to do it is to make one with a 1" - 1-1/2" square block, 3/4" thick. Drill a hole through it just slightly larger than the size of the bolt that threads into the insert, then enlarge the bottom of the hole to a size larger than the insert. Put the bolt through the small hole side, and align the big hole over the insert bushing. screw the bolt into the bushing, and it will start to lift out. You may have to add 1/4" pieces under the block to keep raising it fully out, or you can try to grab it with pliers(not always a good idea). you should only have to raise it once or twice to get it fully out. Use a good solid piece of hardwood(eg...maple, oak etc.)
good luck with it

try heating the threaded inserts with a soldering iron before pulling them.
