Hey Janek,

I was just wondering if you could tell me what fingerings you would use for a particular line. The solution I am using seems less than optimal, and I thought you might have a brilliant suggestion...

The line in question is the 16th note run at the end of the chorus in Havona, played in unison by Jaco and Joe Zawinul.

B E F# B C E F# A D A F# E C B F# E

Here is a tab-notation of the way I play it (fret number (finger number)):

-------------------------------------14-19(ext. 4th)----------
-----------9-10(4th)--14(1st)-16----------------------------
------7-9------------------------------------------------------
-7(1st)--------------------------------------------------------

I go back down pretty much the same way. I think I'm probably not skipping in small enough increments. What do you think ? What would Janek do ?

Thanks,

NL

B-E on the E string fingers 1 and 4

F# on the A string with first finger

B on the D string with the first finger barred over from the previous note

C on the D string with second finger

E-F# on the D string with 1st and 3rd fingers in the 14th position

A-D on the G String with 1st and 4th fingers also in the 14th position

Easy,

Janek

Many thanks Janek. I'll work on it that way. I'm sure I'll be able to take to the speed on the record by avoiding that huge shift.

Best,

NL
