Bud LeCompte was there with five of his awesome basses, and Brian Barrett came down from Nashville with some really great stuff, including JT's newest addition! :bassist: Thanks to JT and Barbara for hosting. The chili was righteous! Nadav 09-17-2006, 10:10 AM Thanks to JT and Barbara for hosting. The chili was righteous! +1 If anyone's got pictures they want me to host, email them to nadav (at) nadav.name SoComSurfing 09-17-2006, 10:59 AM I REALLY hate I missed this! Some of my travel arrangements fell through, and I was out till 3AM friday night watching Oteil play. There's no way I could have made that drive saturday morning. Can't wait for the pics! Dave Siff 09-17-2006, 12:11 PM Top 7 basses from yesterday (somebody post pictures!): 1) LeCompte 4-string with lipstick-tube pickups. Maybe the coolest bass I've ever played, and certainly the most aggressive sounding. I almost ran home to get the checkbook. 2) LeCompte 5-string with custom black paint, red/white detailing and maple neck. Simply awesome in every respect. 3) Low End Jazz 4-string. Besides looking and playing great, this bass has the deepest-sounding open E in history. And that's before you flip down the Hipshot X-tender for a truly house-rattling D. 4) JT's new Low End "Geddy Lee" 7-string. A blast to play and it looks incredible. Only four knobs, though.. JT's other basses are going to make fun of it. :D 5) Hambone's "Thunder" Jazz bass. The classic sunburst/tort Jazz. Best headstock logo ever. 6) JT's Ritter 7-string. Amazingly playable for such a wide neck, and sounds awesome. 7) LeCompte fanned-fret 6-string. Another work of art. Bud is a luthier to be reckoned with! j-raj 09-17-2006, 01:59 PM Dave and JT... http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l315/j-raj/TB%20GTG%2009162006/JTandDaveSiff.jpg Barbara and a deck full of TB'ers!! http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l315/j-raj/TB%20GTG%2009162006/DeckfullofTBers.jpg ...ever-so-cheerful-looking Bassmonkeee (:hiding: ) http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l315/j-raj/TB%20GTG%2009162006/HappyJason.jpg WOOT Drake! http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l315/j-raj/TB%20GTG%2009162006/Drake1.jpg Joseph and Jeff playing some LEJ's http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l315/j-raj/TB%20GTG%2009162006/JosephandJeff.jpg Brian and Pogipoints playing the Amboyna burl Vortex. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l315/j-raj/TB%20GTG%2009162006/BrianAndNeal.jpg Thank you so much Barbara and JT for hosting this GTG(Yes, that chili was killer, thx)!!! Heres a link to the Pictures I took any and everyone is welcome to post them in the thread........ doesn't this thread need to be moved where everyone can see what they missed! http://www.thelowend.net/gallery/images/jtsgtg/ http://www.thelowend.net/gallery/images/jtsgtg/CIMG1263.JPG john turner 09-17-2006, 05:31 PM :hyper: check out that 7 string geddy lee! a jt lee if you will :hyper: i love it. had a long time to mess with it last night and this morning, still haven't even gotten to really tweaking the preamp on it that much yet. Brian Barrett 09-17-2006, 05:32 PM The JT Couch Pictures LowEnd Couch Picture http://www.thelowend.net/gallery/images/jtsgtg/CIMG1279.JPG Basses I brought to the GTG Couch Pictures http://www.thelowend.net/gallery/images/jtsgtg/CIMG1276.JPG john turner 09-17-2006, 06:40 PM i have a new pic too, gotta upload it :hyper: budman 09-17-2006, 06:42 PM Glad I made it. Very cool to have met everyone and see a few folks again who I've met before. Very cool basses all the way around. The "Von Dutch" made it to its new owner. I'm actually in Mobile at the moment and a little dain bread at the moment from all the driving. Still got some more to do. I'll be home tomorrow. SoComSurfing 09-17-2006, 06:48 PM Aww, crap! Bud, if I'd known you were gonna be heading through Mobile I'd love to have met up with you. Unfortunately it looks like you're offline now, and I'm taking a break in the middle of an LSAT review. Have a safe trip back to Houston! john turner 09-17-2006, 06:50 PM i must say bud's stuff that he brought to the gtg was absolutely stunning. amazing gear man, good job. pogipoints 09-17-2006, 07:47 PM It was great meeting everyone! I can finally attach faces to the usernames here! I have to say, Budman, those LeCompte basses play and sound incredible! Brian, those LowEnd and Benavente basses kick @$$! These are some of the best basses I've ever played! And then I asked about pricing... OMG! I was tempted to take one of these basses home! Yes, they're very reasonably priced! The next time I go shopping for a bass, these will definitely be at the top of my list! -- Neil / pogipoints Hambone 09-17-2006, 08:51 PM I gotta thank all the Atlanta TB'ers for a great time. Barb and JT were the perfect hosts as usual. Nothing beats good friends sharing good food and good hardware. Bud's creations deserve all of the raving they get here in the forum. Everything I picked up was buttah and they held their own with all of the other boutiques in the room. And there were a BUNCH of 'em. Surprise of the event equipment wise was a Warrior 5 string - bolt on with a pickguard and about 7 lbs if it was an ounce. The "Dynamite in a Small Package" award goes to Drake Kennedy. He's got chops and a big future in the biz. It's going to be great to get on a regular schedule with these in the future lneal 09-17-2006, 09:30 PM Oh well, I guess I missed a great time. I had to stay here and entertain my brother-in-law who was visiting from Texas. He ate more steak than any human I've ever seen in spite of the fact that he weighs about 140 pounds soaking wet. :spit: I really hate I missed this one, especially since I wanted some feedback on the Magnum preamp from other bassists. I was even gonna bring a screwdriver and show ya'll the innards! I also missed seeing everyone and all the pretty girls you brought. Maybe next time.............. bassmonkeee 09-18-2006, 07:05 AM Good food, good bassists and a couple of halfway decent chunks of wood :ninja:. Close to 60 basses, and not a dog in the bunch. What music store can say that? Thanks to everyone I met, and special thanks to jraj for the upskirt shot. :eyebrow: It will certainly be nice to do this a bit more regularly than once every 18 months. So, when is the next one? :hyper: Next time I won't be so lazy, and I'll actually use the camera and video camera that I brought with me. :rollno: Brian Barrett 09-18-2006, 07:50 AM So, when is the next one? :hyper: Next time I won't be so lazy, and I'll actually use the camera and video camera that I brought with me. :rollno: Well, If I pull mine off like last year we will be looking at either Jan. 27th or Feb 3rd. I'm thinking the 3rd though, so its not so much travel in one week after NAMM for some of us and gives us a week break. Plus it allows anything coming from NAMM to arrive ... :D john turner 09-18-2006, 07:50 AM as if the day wasn't good enough as it was, it also motivated me to finally take a new family pic! http://lordonly.net/Images/John/jtfamilyx2.jpg :hyper: john turner 09-18-2006, 08:03 AM Well, If I pull mine off like last year we will be looking at either Jan. 27th or Feb 3rd.
