Hey guys.... I have recently tried using the effects loop on my amp, but when I hook everything up, there is no sound at all. I run the send from one pedal to the effects loop input, and the return from my second pedal to the output. I then connect my bass to the standard input. Why doesn't the effects loop work? I am using a pedalboard to power the pedals only, but that shouldn't be a problem. Does the effects loop need to be activated?
Thanks

From your description, you're plugging backward.
It goes Effect send -> Pedals -> Effect return.
Also pedals are meant to be used in front of the amp, not in the effect loop. This may bring level issues but won't completely prevent it from working.
Posting your questions in the right sections (Effects ?) may generate more answers.

So how should I hook it up instead?

As Jazz Ad mentioned, for pedals, the best bet is usually: Pedal 1 > Pedal 2 > etc. > main amp input. The effects loop is generally more useful for line level (usually rack-mount) boxes.

so the bass goes to the first pedal, how exactly should I hook that up?

bass --> pedal 1 input.
Pedal 1 output --> pedal 2 input.
etc.
Last pedal output --> normal amp input.
