Hello,
I'm looking to take up URB. I need a bass and a teacher. I already play electric bass and other instruments too, I have a good hand in theory and compsition. I am looking to play mostly jazz and world stuff. I've searched the archives buy I can't find any shop or teacher recommendations in Central Florida, or anywhere in florida for that matter. I can make trips to Atlanta if I have to (for shopping only, obviously).
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Ben Joella is in Boca Raton. http://www.joellabasses.com/ I'm not sure if he sells basses or teaches but he might be able to point you in the right direction. He was around Michigan State while I was at school there. He's a great player and does good work on instruments.

Central Florida blows for upright bass. If someone wants to invest in it, I will start and run an upright store here. I figure I can get shop space and an inventory going for a couple million, and I think I can make your money back in about 30 years ;)

I promise to drive in from Lakeland twice a year to buy a set of strings, or something. That oughta help.:)

I'll shop in your store and take up your time, then order over the web from someone cheaper. Will that help? :p
Central FL is not all bad. There is a great luthier here; I'll PM the details to antinym. I know a few good players who may teach as well.
antinym: PM sent.

Sure, Sol Cornell. He's in the Longwood / Altamonte area. I've used him several times. I've had nothing but great experience with him.
I did not know there was a good luthier in Central Florida. I need some set up work done so I might give him a call. What's his number?
