seriously gard, I just looked at again, that thing is ridiculous. Nicest maple top I've ever seen I think. I shudder to think it could possibly have been mine.........

I know my bass is 2 weeks out, but is it too late to change my top to spalted maple?
Will it make me sound like Victor Wooten?

Hahaha..........

There are a few interesting features on that particular bass -

Nordstrand pickups, the wenge wedge neck, but there is one very unusual option on it, one you will rarely see on a "dealer stock" piece from us 19 mm string spacing at the bridge.

This is indeed one very tricked out bass, folks, and it lives up to the appearance, I really dug it. A lot. A whole lot.

Sure, we'll just take that body and run it through the planer, shave that boring piece of bubinga right off it, drop a slab of spalt on top of it, carve it, and spray it, no sweat.

However, making you sound like Victor will also require one more option, the "hand transplant" option, and it's VERY expensive, and Vic won't like it....

I only want that top if I can get it in a opaque fluorescent yellow.

I'm sure Keith still has a can of that lying around from the 80's........

This is probably the nicest top that I have seen on a Roscoe. It makes me feel all "tingly" inside.

It was at the Norm Stockton clinic, so I didn't get a chance to play it. Next time I stop by the shop I will, and I'll let you know what I think!

Jason was afraid to play it, because he knows he'd have to HAVE it - it's right in his "wheelhouse":

Ash body
Wide string spacing

;)

...I will get you one day, you crazy coon@$$!!!

I'm still trying to convince my wife of the following math..

New House + New Baby = New Bass

LOL!! You could try this equation:

New House + New Baby - Car + Moped + Blood donations = New Bass! :)

That is true! But I know in the end, it'll cost me! I think her math is something like this.

New House + New Baby + New Bass = All my Future Checks Forwarded Directly to Her!

Wait... That's how it works already! :hmm:

I actually believe that equation works without the "New Bass" factor included, so you might as well GET THE BASS!!!

Yeah, that's sweet lookin'. I'm really feelin' the exposed pole pickups too. I didn't used to like them, but they look great on Roscoe. When I used to see exposed poles on Fodera and Ken Smith basses, I didn't like 'em. I don't know why; I'm strange like that.

Sorry vAns.

Once I saw that bass I knew I had to have it. One of the last Roscoe basses with the Demeter, and it has 19mm spacing, and Nordstrand pickups, and the Wenge wedge neck. :hyper:  :hyper:

By far the best looking Roscoe I've seen in a while. The LG's look even better with the 0 degree pickup package.

What's the standard string spacing at the bridge on an SKB3005 ? I have a Warwick thumb that is 16mm and a locally made custom 5 string that's 19mm - I can't decide which I prefer so it prob doesn't matter but i'm curious what the norm for Roscoe is anyway.

Typical Roscoe is 18mm (actually I think I remember Gard telling me it's 18.3mm). The Roscoe in this thread has a custom 19mm spacing.

Gard
11-17-2006, 04:02 PM
4 string: 19mm
5 string: 18.15mm
6 string: 18.30mm
7 string: 16.5mm
