Hey Guy's .I just purchased my dream bass .I need a some help on picking out the perfect preamp upgrade.The situation is, I want my beautiful SKB3006 to Have unforgetable punch and Clarity.I already have an awesome sound with the bartolini,but I'm in search of the Ultimate Intimate tone ,with making a great sounding bass sound even better.:D I need your help Guys.

One things for sure, I love what Keith Roscoe Did with my SKB3006!

Get the Demeter/Aggie/Audere combo with the active/passive option and series/parallel push/pull switch. You'll only have to carve out about 50% of the back of the bass to fit it in. Just think of all the switches you could play with.

I switched my Bartolini preamp for a Demeter and it sounded much better. Basso Gruvitas has the Aggie in one of his. I think it gives more of a funk sound. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I say Audere all the way. If you wanted "ultimate buck-nasty tone" I'd say Aggie.

I was just listening to some clips of my first Roscoe that I had put a standard 3 band Demeter in (first Demeter in a Roscoe!) and the sound was just soooooooooo good. I'd love to have a Roscoe with Barts and a Demeter pre again sometime.

If you want an ultra clean sound with a tighter low end than go for an Audere.

I'd still love to hear a Roscoe with a 3 band John Suhr preamp. I just love that pre....maybe with the pickups in a more traditional 60's J bass position.

Anyway, from my experience I still think the Demeter is a perfect match for the Roscoe basses with Barts.

If you're trying to clean up the sound, I say look no further than the Demeter.

I just beefed up my Roscoe w/ an GK-3B pickup.

Hey Mo, I don't think so. I was listening the other day to some live clips of my playing behind a songwriter. I may be putting one of the clips up on my myspace page so keep an eye on that. I did just put some older clips of Equinox when I had my first Roscoe (one piece myrlewood body/demeter pre). You can check those out. I think those were the ones I sent you.

Again, I highly reccomend the Demeter.

+1 Having spent a bit of time with the Audere I am impressed with the clarity of sound (a bit more air in the sound if that makes sense) with no harshness and the big bottom end without the boomyness and tight clear mids.

I added the Roland GK-3B to my bass too. My Roscoe's are way too pretty to have this appendage attached, so I put it on my Ken Smith.

I have two Roscoe's one with Aguilar/Bart and one with Demeter/Bart. The Aguilar is good but the Demeter is outstanding.

All those apedages are nicely padded underneath. My Roscoe has not nare a nick on it. I was very careful, applying my apendages. :smug: Or Borg was very careful, should I say :)

I'm sure it works great, but boy oh boy, is that thing ruining the fung shue of your gorgeous bass.

Oh well, genius has always had to make sacrifices to the gods of conventionality. I suppose if it is sonically worth it, the borg now have a SLAMMING bass. :bassist:

Of course I do love sitting them on a stand in the corner of the room while I watch my football games! Win or lose, I still have a smile on my face!;)

If anyone else puts a GK pickup on, do it this way. Put it as close to the bridge as you can get it. I originally had it, center between bridge and pickup. The edge of pickup, has to be, between 15 and 25 mm, to the center of your bridge saddle.

My B string saddle is 25mm. My C string is now 15mm.

The polyphonics track MUCH better now.:hyper:I had to mave the pickup, away from the bridge on the other bass. Saddles were right on the edge, of the bridge on that one.

Man, would you look at the marks on that front pickup, and the top of the fingerboard ? :rollno: That bass has been rode hard and put up wet.
