As the title says... In days gone by I had seen some posts about this maybe taken(ing) place in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Area, I did not know if there was any support for any events like this. I would love to be apart of something like that and put some faces with the many peepz that I see on Talkbass. Any takers , thought I would ask... Holler back at me and maybe we can get some people together and find a place to have it at.

Peace,

I doubt it. In the the past the main Southern GTG spots were Atlanta and Memphis/Murpheesboro.

Mark me as interested. I could bring my Ashdown RPM1 and my effects setup.

Well my friend, that should not be the case, we have a lot of people in this region that there should be no reason why we could not have one, lets keep this alive! :hyper:

Sounds awesome, I don't know how much out of the way that might be for others, I think yall are about the same distance from me as Dallas/Ft. Worth area would be right? If so I am GAME! I know we have a lot of people around the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and I wasn't sure, if either you have a place we could have it at that would be awesome. And you have a DB750... ooh, I would love to play through one of those!

Peace,

Is Applewoods, I think that was the name of it..., still in OKC? If so, I'm in :bassist:

Honestly, the last few Dallas GTG's were just lets go to Pete Skjold's and look at all the new stuff. Honestly, again, I don't want to see the same old stuff all the time. Thanks to Pete for hosting, but the first GTG I went to was at a resteraunt in Deep Ellum, and it was great. Lots of gear, some cheap (mine) some not. Made a few good friends, and won a gift certificate to Larry Morgan. THAT was a GTG.

to bad we couldn't have gotten the GTG setup for this next weekend (21-22) Setup around the Arlington Guitar show. I'll be there and a number of other guys coming to the Guitar Show.

Wow, glad I checked on this thread... I'm going to be in Dallas on Saturday, so I may have to check it out. How is that show for bassists?

No.. Applewoods is gone. It moved, then it was bought out.

The last GTG that Pete hosted was pretty nice, it was right next to Anderson Guitars.. and it was less of Pete showing his stuff (although.. I really like to look and play Pete's basses).

I was just down there last weekend.. wish I could have timed it in coordination with the Arlington Show.

Yeah.. it's roughly 3 to 3 1/2 hours drive. pretty close to halfway between us and Shreveport.

I'd love for there to be another GTG in the Dallas area. And it would be awesome if we could get Brian to bring all of his "LowEnd" stuff!!

I don't want to seem rude to Pete, he's a great guy, with some great basses. I can't think of a way to describe it, but something just doesn't seem right about it.

Too bad about Applewoods, that place rocked :hyper:

Maybe next year we can plan the GTG the weekend of the Arlington or Dallas show. That way the GTG and Show will all pull more people down and things to do.

Hate we missed each other by a week H.

No doubt. Do you know whereabout you'll be set up? Or should I just look for the Low End banner?

 WOW... I leave for a day or so and it seems like this thread got lit up... a lot! Well when is the next "big" guitar show in Dallas area? I know there is a James Burton Guitar Show here in Shreveport at the end of March 2007. I know I def. don't have a place large enough to hold a GTG and my landlord would shoot me dead I know it! :smug: But if any interested party's would like to come down when that show happens maybe we can meet up and hang out to some extent. I am not sure who is all on the docket but I know the show as a whole was awesome. More info. can be found on this show HERE (http://www.jamesburtonmusic.com/).

Keep me posted on the guitar shows in the Dallas area, I heard that some of them where good, I have never personally been to one but it sounds like a load of fun.

I was there last year, and the basses were thin. Don't get me wrong Warrior always has there pieces af art on display, and I think the price of admission alone is worth seeing Pete Skjold's next batch on display. I'll be there Sunday.

Pete's hosting of various GTG's. Again, I like Pete, but something just doesn't sit right with me.

I'm not getting what's not right about it.

It just didn't sit right with ME. For some reason, it felt more like free advertising (minus the price of hot dogs, of course :D). My opinion is just that, mine. I don't expect anyone else to agree, or even get it. I was just stating my feeling on the matter.

Back on topic, so is there a GTG planned other than maybe a small one this weekend? What day is everyone going?

No good deed goes unpunished?

I guess you are entitled to your feelings. It was free advertising, and I don't think Pete would disagree with you on that. But everybody was encouraged to bring whatever gear they had and we did. Pete was also more than happy to talk about the other basses and wail on them too.

Sorry it didn't sit right for you.

Sorry it didn't sit right for you.

Please don't be. I had a choice, and I chose not to go. IIRC, there was more than one at,or sponsored by, Pete's, and at least one time I had car trouble. After that first one, I decided not to try again.

However, I'm still curious if there are any plans for an upcoming GTG. Depending on the time/location, I may be more than willing to travel to OK or LA.

If it was not so far away and if they had enough space, it would be awesome if we could have a GTG at James shop ThePerfectBass! That would be killer, awesome staff and a heck of a good selection of gear to boot! *Still Dreamen*

I'll be at the Arlington show on Saturday. Maybe Sunday too. No booth. I'm backpacking.

We've been thinking about hosting a GTG in Houston. Don't know when though...
