Ok, now i know many of you see no reason to venture into Basses Off Topic, so i am posting this up here.

I have a written a medieval story based around the members here at Talkbass. I have included Double Basses too, in fact the story is about the Search for the history of bass, and the long lost Double Bassists. (crap i gave it away!;)).

Therefore i need some double bassist characters. Anyone willing to sacrifice their name for the well being of my story? I know, I know i am bored, but they want a Part 2 so i need names people!

Would like a few female names too. If you feel you're suited to a certain type of character please put that in too. Makes it easier on me! Had a few offers for evil bassists as well..

Merls.

I downloaded the file, but couldn't unzip it. How does an old CYBERDUMMY do such a thing?

I believe you just suggested your own character in the story, Chris. What would be the medieval equvivalent of a cyberdummy...? :D

Chris, if your computer has a program called Winzip, double clicking on the icon should load it up. When it loads, click on the Extract button. Choose where you want the unzipped file to go, and press okay. If you haven't got Winzip, you can download a version here (http://www.winzip.com/downauto.cgi?winzip80.exe) that should allow you to unzip the file. Or, failing that, PM me and I'll email a text version of the file to you.

There's an old thread around here someplace where somebody got a giant wedgie and started calling the DB forums, "Castle DB". I believe the reference was meant to address our supposed "Elitism". As the analogy was drawn, the DB contingent were portrayed as an clan of anachronistic snobs who locked up all of their knowledge inside the castle/fortress of DB, which was protected by a wide and smelly moat. As the legend goes, the moat was populated by troll-smashing monsters who chewed up and spat out anyone trying to gain unauthorized access to the castle. Many a BGer drowned in the moat, or were devoured by the moat critters. For a long time, Mr. Turner was the captain of the guard.

I think this would work well in any such story, since DBers couldn't possibly live in huts: huts have notorious humdity problems, which would cause DB's to either a) dry out and crack in the winter, or b) swell up in the summer and implode.

And if you're looking for someone to play the evil DB overlord, I nominate Ed.

You probably could get a few to sign on - but you'd have to promise them a portion of the royaties.

Also, in a medieval bass story - they'd be the only ones you'd hear. No electricity, duh!

Oh, yeah - acoustic bass guitars...well, you still can't hear most of them anyway.

JAZZBOZO,

Well, we let YOU post regularly here in the castle...in light of this fact, just how "Elitist" could we really BE? ;) :D

Errr Your point??? :D:D

Ed, okies, little more info although u guys are/were(if i get around to it), going to be portrayed as the Elite, but the long lost bassists, whereby they need to be bought back to a world where quality and authentism (sp? word?) is over looked and possibly lost.
