Hi guys,
So I'm putting together a bit of a GTG at the store that I work at out in Langley. It's Act 1 Music and I've got SUNDAY NOV. 19th booked from 1-5pm for the first annual Valley Bass Quake. :smug:

my hopes are that it'll be an event to get all of us Vancouver/Fraser Valley bassists together for a few hours to talk shop, try gear and just hang out/network.

It's a pretty casual affair, Mike Kinal will be coming out to do a talk on set-up and building and I'm trying to get a few other guys out for some Q&A.

There will be some door prizes (t-shirts/strings/etc.) and basically just a fun hang to try some gear in the store AS WELL AS BRINGING YOUR basses and amps for a good ol' GTG :hyper:

feel free to email me with any questions.

hope to see a bunch of you there.

best,
Pete

ps. IT'S FREE (ofcourse) &.... Double Bassists, feel free to come as well!!!! I'm a little rusty on my Petrachi's(sp?) but would love to have some of the Doghouse Brethren there as well :bassist:

Is it a bass-only store? Or a general music store?

Genral music store, but as soon as you walk in they have their bass wall, one of the first things you see. At least thats the way it was when I was there last.

Hmm... Are WA folk welcome? A quick check of mapblast indicates you're only a few hours away. I might be up for another road trip. There's plenty of stuff for the family to do in Vancouver.

Probably My Moon Climb 5er, I have a DJ-5 as well, maybe my warmoth tele bass or my carvin Bunny Brunel.

::::BASSIST::::
10-29-2006, 06:47 PM
I'll bring one of my EA Wizzys. My focus SA, SX 5er (whoopty do!) and MIJ jazz. I might just leave the jazz at home since its nothing special and they are so common. I can also bring my PJB Bass Buddy, but since Act 1 is a PJB dealer the store might have them stocked already?

Smash, we could do the car-pooling thing... I am up for it, but I dont want to take advantage of your generosity:smug:. I can always take my wife's car. If we do go together I can certainly chip in for gas as Langley is a bit of a trip.

Psychicpet
10-29-2006, 09:48 PM
Sounds awesome guys!!!!

And ya Vegan, I'll have my BassBuddy for everyone to try , and we might still have one in stock

Just saw the 5 string that Mike Kinal is gonna be bringing..... very nice and understated.

Cheers!

Where's Langley? I'm moving to Whistler for a seasonal job as of Nov. 1st and this GTG sounds intriguing despite having to leave most of my gear at home. Is it going to be anywhere near where I am?

Lower-Than-Low
10-29-2006, 10:19 PM
As I took a trip to Whister for a school Snow Sports thing, I know that it's about 2 1/2 to 3 hours from where I live, which is somewhat close to Act 1 (20 minute drive at the very absolute most).

::::BASSIST::::
10-29-2006, 10:25 PM
Yeah, its quite a long way from Whistler to Langley, but on the bright side its all highway driving.

And the roads are (or should be at least) only getting better because of the 2010 Olympics and all that.

Anywho, I can't wait till this gtg.

anyone know about how the border crossing is? i have been hearing people talk about having to have a passport to cross these days.... i'd love to come if it wont be a hassle!

Psychicpet
10-30-2006, 12:45 AM
not terribly bad, if you do have a passport that'll definitely help but it shouldn't be too bad.

if you need any other "trip specifics" let me know and I'll email you my name/#/address of the store for the event so they know you're not a smuggler :hiding:

Bah!!!!

oh well, I'll probably be filming a whole lot for OVRDRVN.COM

so you'll get to see a bit... but I do intend on making it a bit more than just an annual event so there will be more GTGs in the future (and no, not just to benefit the store, but it is a good enviro for it, lots of amps! :D )

cheers V.

I may try to come up for this as well - just saw the thread, so it may be too short notice for the wife (especially with a gig tonight...). If I come, I'll bring my MIA Jazz, TFunk and Berg mini-stack.
