Would anybody be interested in a ST. Louis area? I have an idea for a few locations.

Last week, I talked to the owner of Mojo's Music in Edwardsville, IL, about eighteen miles NW of downtown STL. He seemed at least open to the idea. I will talk to him again, he has room for a clinic, and he also has a decent selection of basses ( not boutique) that folks could check out. His store is also cool since most of his bass instructors are students of the great fusion and jazz bassist, Tom Kennedy. One of his major salesmen is also a killer bassist. Since he is a Ernie Ball/Music Man dealer, maybe we could get Tony Levin for a clinic! Hey, why not dream?:smug:

I'd be interested, depending on the date, of course.

I had not thought about a date, but it seems that January would be good since everyone will be busy for the holidays.

I might drive out from KC to something like this. Especially if Tony Levin is going to be there. :)

Tony Levin is wishful thinking at this point. I will go by the shop tomorrow and tell him that a buzz is starting to develop about a Talkbass GTG in Edwardsville.:hyper:

If you are really interested in a STL area GTG, post here. The store owner is interested. I need to be able to tell him how many might want to attend.

My parents live in STL so yeah I could bring the daughter up to see them and possibly attend the GTG....are there any stores in STL that sell boutique gear? I've been to a couple of GC's but never found anything really special.

I'm glad to see interest perking up a bit. As for boutique stores, they dried up around 2000/2001. Fazio's in West St. Louis County off Manchester Road is about the most exotic you will find.

I'm still working on January.

So is there still an interest in this? I wouldnt mind meeting some of the other bass players in the area since I am just starting out ...

Hope something comes of this ... sounds like fun.
