fellow Roscoe Heads,
Jimmy Haslip, bassist for the YellowJackets & noted Roscoe enthusiast, will be making an appearance at Bass Specialties this coming Saturday afternoon. All are invited to attend this free event - snacks & beverages to be provided. Details will follow once I confirm the timing with Jimmy later today. Many thanks to our most gracious host, Gard Lewis, for making the connection and allowing me this space!:hyper: :hyper: :hyper:
hope to see you there
Glenn
Y'know the sick thing is, I've never actually MET Jimmy myself, talked to him on the phone uncounted times, exchanged e-mails constantly, but never been in the same room with the dude.
:hmm:
...you're gettin' to see him before I am!
:spit:
Funny/sad story: Once the Yellowjackets played in Greensboro, at the Carolina Theater, which you can ALMOST see from the shop's front door - it's literally just blocks away - and because they were still rehearsing a new drummer, Jimmy didn't have a chance to make it into the shop! Of course, the guys went to see them play (this was in the "pre-Gard" days)!

That's nice Glenn! I wish I could be there, but I live on the other side of the country!
... through the school, where I work, I had more then one occasion to see/talk to Jimmy... guys, go and see him! He's a very nice and interesting guy...lots of stories to tell... it's always funny to see him play that damn bass up-side-down!!!
Have a great week, I'm out...

Gard,
Jimmy Haslip's fretless tone is the reason I have a Roscoe to begin with. He created a sound that I just had to have.:bassist:
Funny thing is...that sound was coming from his MTD fretless. Even funnier...I ACHIEVED that tone once I got my Roscoe fretless.:D

Thanks for the kind words Joe!
that SKB won't even make it in to the shop :crying: - once it's completed, it goes directly to the buyer who lives just 2 hours from Roscoe!
i'm really excited to be getting Jimmy to stop by!

A specialty bass shop in Pennsylvania!!! That's fantastic! If you're looking to franchise over here in Southwestern PA, it would save serious bassists from having to deal with GC as well as any other music store within a 10 county area.
