VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : Online Lessons, Transcriptions at The Libster
TalkBass 11-02-2006, 09:37 AM TalkBass.com fully recommends the third party website, "The Libster (http://www.thelibster.com/bass)", for their online lessons, transcriptions, tips, and more. One of the first real instructional websites for bassists, The Libster went offline for several years, but is now back online in 2006.
www.thelibster.com/bass
From Libby (The Libster):
"The Libster is an educational bass guitar site which includes dozens of lessons, bass arrangements, bass transcriptions, a beginners' guide, technical advice, solo pieces, fingerboard familiarity drills, bass oriented sound files, playing tips, a Q&A section, links and much more. There are two extensive lesson series - one on reading for bass and one on chord theory.
There is also a new section, "Basslines" which includes pdfs of basslines and mp3s of accompanying performances. Everything at The Libster is free to download & everyone is welcome, so come along, but please say g'day at the Libster Lounge.
The site was taken offline for a few years as I wanted a break from it & life took over. In the meantime I accumulated hundreds of arrangements & basslines, I learned how to do some web programming and also my Nephew started learning the bass. It was he who asked me to dust off the old site and put it back online - so it's back better than ever, with a lot of new stuff and a 2006 make-over.

thelibster 01-05-2008, 09:01 AM Hi there folks thanks for the thanks :-)
Hey I just wanted to let you know that I've put a fair bit of new stuff up in the last couple of days - particularly in the 'basslines' section. There's quite a few new charts with accompanying mp3s.

quasimodem1_200 05-09-2008, 09:01 PM Hi Libby
On your Beginner page you wrote the following:
"By right hand, I'm actually referring to the fingerboard hand"
But you also call the left hand the fingerboard hand.
Is this a typo?
Thanks

Wow! This is exactly what I've been looking for.
I have been playing since high school and never learned how to read. This will be my New Years resolution. To learn to read.
Allmanfan456 01-27-2009, 04:02 PM Wow awesome! I need this to learn how to read music.

Yep that was a typo. That's been sitting there for about 10 years and you're the first to notice. You should win a prize or something. Thanks for that! I've fixed.

thelibster 02-01-2009, 07:07 AM Forgot to mention - I've added a lot of new stuff to the 'basslines' sections in the last couple of days. Lots of bass charts from songs I've arranged or had to work on.
